Went for 9 days to Miami with my wife and baby. We stayed at the palms and were both disappointed in the hotel.

The positives: Location is good, atmosphere by the pool is very nice, the breakfast is very nice. I would say the staff for the most part is friendly.

The negatives:

The intangibles that can sour a trip

1. When we asked for a change of room from double to king, they told us none were available. However on booking.com there were 3 rooms available. After a lot of fighting we did get a room that suddenly freed up because they were tired of hearing me ask for it.

2. When we asked to be seated outside for breakfast , we were told that there were no seats available. However , after we told them that we would wait outside , we saw there were plenty of seats available, which seemed to imply they were holding the seats for incrementally paying customers ( our breakfast was included)

3. Upon checking out , we were charged 160 dollars , above and beyond for food at the bar. Upon inquiring about the charge it seemed it was a different room’s charge


This experience doesn’t speak about the friendly staff but more to a general disorganization and bad hotel policies.

The rooms and the overall impression of the hotel is that it needs a little retouch . Carpets are old, in the room, wiring is old and you can see the grout around the tiles. Not what you would expect for such a price.

Sorry, overall, it’s not worth the price.


In general though, south Beach is majorly overpriced but that’s not fair to include in a hotel review.

First and foremost, we appreciate the time that you took to share with us your feedback and thank you for choosing us for your home away from home. While we’re happy to read that you were pleased with our location, ambiance and Essensia Restaurant, we truly regret to read the negative situations that may have left you with a sour taste. Please allow me to explain that there may have been 3 king rooms available for 1 or 2 nights but may not have been available for the entire 8 or 9 days. I’m glad to read that we were able to accommodate your request early the following morning after your late night arrival due to a cancelled reservation. I would also like to take the time to apologize for any miscommunication in our part when you were getting seated for breakfast. The only time we do not sit people outside by the pool terrace is after it rains. You will be happy to know that our rooms will soon have new carpet, furniture, fixtures, etc. It is our sincere hope that your opinion of our property would be at least a bit more favorable after reading our response. We hope you would be willing to consider us as your choice of accommodation again in the future.

This hotel is amazing. The food is excellent. The beach is beautiful. My finest moment is hanging by the pool at the Tiki Bar. The drinks was amazing and so was the waiter Andre. He's hilarious. The heated pool is very welcoming.

My father and I planned a Florida vacation in April and decided to stay at this hotel because of the great reviews we read; it did not disappoint. Of course the hotel and rooms were beautiful, but what really made the trip was the excellent customer service from the staff. Being from upstate NY, we were excited to be able to enjoy the beach and some warm weather. Angel made sure our days at the beach were perfect. He made us feel like we were the only ones he was taking care of. He was personable, and made us feel right at home.

Room Tip: Ocean front view was amazing!

We stayed in the Palms hotel and Spa with my boyfriend we had a great time and visited pool we love our server his name was Angel he was very friendly and he went the extra mile with his customers service. He made us feel very special - we definitely will be back. Thank you Angel for great service. Eva &Mike

I am vacationing in Miami Beach and have decided to stay at this hotel because of the great things I’ve heard about it. While me and a few friends decided to stay by the outside bar, it was very pleasant by the beach. we had a great server, his name was Marlon! He was so friendly & funny and made the experience more enjoyable!! He recommended to go to a Cuban restaurant, when we asked what we can eat. He is a great server & this hotel is very nice.
