My boyfriend and I travel fairly often from NYC to Miami, and Las Olas is always our first destination, even before checking in at the hotel. That said, it's also our last stop, where we'll go to grab bagfuls of warm empanadas before heading back to the airport. This Cuban cafe is a neighborhood institution, where locals can be found at any time of day enjoying fresh-made empanadas, juices, and plate-fulls of Cuban comfort food. The Latina women that work there are so sweet, and seem to have endless energy - which is needed for the cafe's constant buzz. Las Olas attracts people from every walk of life, from the working class to the city's elite... and every customer is treated with the same friendly, caring service. I can't think of a better place for tourists to get taste of local Miami life...and I wouldn't DARE visit Miami without several visits to Las Olas!
