“South Beach Rip-off”

Stayed at this Hotel which I would not grade higher than a Hostel from 30thApril -3rd May 2013
The Room was very basic with very little wardrobe space and no drawers at all, so most of ones clothes had to be left in the suitcase on put on the floor, and the Air Conditioning ferocious and could not be adjusted in the room it was like staying in an Ice Hotel. There were two locks on the door and could not get either to work until the Receptionist came up and showed me how - the top lock did not work and the bottom lock had to have the key pulled out a little way before it would lock- so very 21st Century. The Staff were all so laid back that they nearly fell over! and breakfast was a shambles. The 2nd Floor Corridor was ice cold but the lobby was hot and humid and very uncomfortable to sit in for Breakfast. You usually could not sit out side as the staff were all sitting in those seats. The lift was some thing out of a Hitchcock film!!the only good thing that I can fine to say about this Hostel is that the beds were comfortable and the water was hot- every thing else very third world

Room Tip: Find another Hotel - don't stay on South Beach - its a rip off - stay Miami or North Beach and c...

By the time you meet the person at the reception you just want to run away from the hotel. People that stay at the front desk are very unfriendly and rude. No smiles, no wellcomes. Feels like you are arriving anywhere else but a hotel.
The room was Ok, but the bathtub just disgusting, very very dirty.
Be careful with reservations thru website : I made a reservation for a two beds room , in the back and they gave me a one bed ocean front.
Don t stay if noise bothers you, it s very lousy place (ocean dr and party is almost everywhere).

Room Tip: If you consider staying in this hotel, don t get an ocean front room, very noisy!

Don't be deceived by the pictures, the hotel is nothing like the pictures, the picture give you the illusion of elegant, clean, and comfortable. However, the reality is that the hotel looks dirty, its hot, and very uncomfortable. Upon check in there was a $2oo deposit " just in case you damaged the room". However, there were broken fixtures in my room. The hotel was HOt, my fiance and I talked to the guy that was fixing the a/c and he stated that the unit "was old" which was the reason why the hotel was hot. The elevator is creepy old and extremely hot. I almost forgot to mention that the bathroom was molded and our room reeked of the scent of mold. The free continental breakfast sucks. I wouldn't even recommend my worst enemy to stay at this hotel.

Upon our check in the concierge did not mention that the AC was broken. The elevator is hot, humid and worn down. We spoke to the AC repair man and he said it should be fixed. After a couple hours it was still dreadfully hot and not comfortable to sleep. When we wanted to speak to the manager on duty there was no one to speak to.

Room Tip: Location is the only thing that is good. Beach is right across the street.

First of all Expedia sucks. After 3 phone calls, 5 phone hours, 3 agents, 2 supervisors (call center in the Philippines) and one month later… I still don’t have a refund, after we checked out of this hotel 3 days early.

We booked 6 nights for spring break. This hotel is RIGHT SMACK IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ACTION. It is probably one of the best locations on South Beach. That said this hotel is no big deal. The room was clean, functional, well lit and VERY COLD. They use central air-conditioning. Which they blast at about 50 degrees. We had to close the air vents just to warm up. But once we did the room did get slightly warmer.

There is no refrigerator, safe or coffee maker in the room. But there is good coffee & bagels downstairs starting at 8AM (included). Our rate was $160 for weeknights & $260 for Fri/Sat. The noise level was horrible. There is some sort of club next door that goes all night long. Music & partying. Hey it’s South Beach right? And the college crowd came and went all night. Banged on doors, shouted in the halls etc.

Then at 4AM EVERY NIGHT. The club has a closing ceremony. Everyone in the club gets onto the wooden stage and JUMPS up & down repeatedly. Thereby shaking the entire building for a few minutes. It’s an old building and it REALLY SHAKES. I think that this is a useless, spiteful act. When I complained to the front desk. They feigned ignorance and said. Oh the music here in the lobby gets loud at times.

There is also no parking or drop off ability. If you have lots of bags you have to schlep them from the alley behind the building all the way around the building, down the sidewalk to the lobby.

We checked out 3 days early. I wouldn’t stay here again. And did I mention that Expedia sucks. Their customer service and their refund system are broken beyond all comprehension. Still waiting for my refund one month later.

Never use Expedia to book anything. You’ll regret it.

Room Tip: Rooms in the back are best.

I travel to Miami often but never have stayed at this hotel before. I was pleasantly surprised by the friendly service, clean updated rooms, and many choices of meals all day long at the hotel. The staff was always friendly and ready to help out with any questions. My room was on the side of the hotel on 3rd floor. I recommend this floor for the street noise is further away. I plan to stay here again.

I need to preface my comments by saying that we were at the Beach Paradise Hotel over Spring Break, when prices are out of line with the quality of the hotel.
This is a hotel that anywhere else couldn't charge more than $49 per night, but with the great location, can get away with $150 tops. We paid $279 per night for a tiny room with a double (not a queen sized) bed that was oddly configured, including a CRT TV sitting on a shelf 7 feet off the ground, beside the bed. Little effort was made in decorating the room.
The other negatives was a $50 early check in fee and a $200 damage deposit (???).
Basically, if you need a place to rest your head, and can get a discount rate, you can't beat the location. If you have average or above expectations for a hotel, this is not the place for you.
