“Great Girl's Getaway Weekend”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 29, 2009

Last minute decided to go to the Ritz Carlton South Beach for a 3 night weekend with 2 gal pals. We had a great time and the hotels staff was unbelievably friendly and helpful and just could not do enough for us.

We stayed in an Ocean view room, which was very comfortable for the 3 of us. We even requested a rollaway which fit really nicely and still gave us more than enough room. The rooms were traditional to Ritz Calrton decor.

The pool area is great for sitting around. They have cabana beds that can be rented. Or even area's just to sit in the shade. They come around with little sample drinks to try. I did not see the tanning butler though. I heard about this, but maybe he is not there anymore.

We had access to the Club Level which is so well worth it. Having constant champagne flowing for us was great! All the 5 food and drink presentations were delicious.

The only thing I was a bit disappointed in was the exercise room and spa. My spa treatment was excellent, it was the relaxation room that I thought needed help. The chairs needed updating for sure. It did not ruin my stay at all....I am just use to other spa's I have been to at Ritz Caltons and they were much nicer (Like Amelia Island's spa is excellent) Also the gym was sort of dark and the ceiling was so low that one gentleman could not walk on the treadmill or he hit his head! Thank goodness I am only 5'4"!

The location of this hotel was perfect. One way is Collins the other is Lincoln....easy access for restaurants and shopping.

We did notice a lot of girlfriends getting away at Ritz, but not any guys. We were told the women like to stay here and men at the W Hotel. Thought that was funny...LOL

I would not make any other choice if I go back someday!

I have stayed at several luxury properties and this hotel has the friendliest, most attentive, gracious staff I have ever encountered. The rooms are clean, well appointed, the beds and linens incredibly comfortable. They do not have all of the amenities you often find at other luxury hotels (e.g. high end soaps and shampoos, complimentary fruit and water in the fitness center) but they do have some (e.g cold towels and shot glass smoothies by the pool). The location is also great with the beach, Lincoln Rd and Ocean Dr all easily accessible. Fantastic spot to vacation.

We combed through all the reviews before going, and really had a difficult time deciding on the best place to stay... Fortunately, we made the correct choice! The location was perfect for us... Right by Lincoln Rd for people watching, a beautiful beach on the other side. May be the best service I've experienced in a long while. The staff really does seem to care about meeting your every need.

The pool was large enough to swim laps, though the temp. was kept too warm for my liking.

Two massages in the spa were very good, but wish there was a hot tub inside the area, as well. (there's one outside by the pool)

Though we enjoyed the benefit of an upgraded room, one complaint: while the ocean views and balcony made the room, the size was very small. Walking in to the very narrow hallway it was always an obstacle course as there's a bureau plunked right there. It only took one foot stubbing to learn the lesson, but couldn't understand why the piece of furniture was there. Luxurious, large marble bath with separate tub and shower almost made up for it. And as many others have complained, at these rates, what's up with charging a daily fee for internet?!

Would definitely stay here again, next time bigger room.

BTW, our second choice was the Sagamore hotel (turned out to be right next door) and so glad we didn't end up there. We had a drink and a look around the property. The place was dead on a Saturday night. They're trying, really trying to be cool. (think stark white) Rooms on the city side would be a noisy drag with horrible view, and the rooms around the pool offer little privacy (reminded me of an LA garden apartment). Pool is really small. Used the nasty restroom near the bar and man o' man talk about stinking of urine. Doesn't bode well for the rest of the place. Interesting art work in the lobby is the only positive I could find. If we stayed here, I think it would've ruined our vacation. Just a warning...

We spent 3 nights at the Ritz Carlton South Beach and loved it. The service was great through our whole stay. We had a city view room looking out onto Lincoln Road, it was clean and a good size.

We enjoyed some cocktails and their Chips and Salsa from the pool bar or the beach bar as our regular pre-dinner routine.

Restaurant Tip: If you like Japanese, Sushi Samba on Lincoln is a great spot.

11 of us just spent the weekend at the Ritz Carlton SB for my 40th weekend and it was fantastic. We stayed on the concierge level which was really nice and the concierges there were extremely helpful. In fact everyone we encountered at the hotel was very helpful. The hotel is in a great location and the rooms were nice and spacious. The beach and pool areas are nice as well. We all had spa treatments and they were great. Very relaxing atmosphere as well. The only complaint I have is that the drinks were ridiculously expensive- $21 for a daquiri- seriously? I know it's a hotel, but that is a bit much. Also, they charge you for umbrellas on the beach which I have a problem with. Other than that, we would not have changed a thing. Would go back in a heart beat.

We loved staying at this hotel. It was like a dream. From the lovely rooms and public spaces to the pina coladas and private beach cabana service and the lovely pool... it was a very enjoyable stay. There is even a kids club if parents need a bit of time on their own. Location was excellent, did not even rent a car. Staff was exceptionally friendly with the exception of the restaurant hostess at breakfast time, who had major attitude problems. She was unprofessional but the rest of the staff was stellar. Can't wait to go back!
