We were due to stay at a different hotel in Miami for our honeymoon but as there were works being carried out there we had to choose somewhere else. We ended up going for the Ritz and what a great choice! You are greeted at the door day & night, great airconditioning throughout hotel. Rooms are huge, airconditioned closets and massive bathroom with v large shower - it's perfect. The pool is great, very big with steps at both ends so you can sit and cool off. You are served water and frozen drinks complimentary all day. They lay your towels on your chosen sun lounger & will even move your umbrella when required! There is a poolside restaurant where the food is gorgeous. The location is perfect and just 2 min walk from shops, cafes & restaurants. The beach is right next to the hotel, you go down a few steps at the back of the pool and you're on the beach. They also have an outdoor heated zacuzzi! but as it was June we didn't really need any more heat! As this was our honeymoon we spent a little more than normal but it was definately worth it. I could not fault this hotel in any shape or form.

This was probably one of the most luxurious hotels on Collins Ave in South Beach. Although, it is not the most luxurious Ritz-Carlton, However, It was in very good condition and very clean. As expected, the staff was 6-star rating. Everyone in the hotel was very friendly, from the valet to the housekeeping staff, someone was always looking to help you. Every employee always said hi and asked how my stay was going. Makes you feel right at home.

My advice regarding room selection, make sure you get a balcony or lanai room, but dont waste money on a oceanview room, its not that great of a view, because how the hotel is built. The rooms are of average size and the bathrooms have separate, shower, bathtube, and the double sinks are always nice. The only problem I experienced with the room, was the house keeping service. I had to make several calls to the front desk to have my room made up each day. Again, the housekeeper cleaning the room was great and friendly, but having to ask each day for service was a bit annoying. One last thing, make sure you request a mini-fridge to be put in your room, for some snacks and drinks. They do not charge for this.

Regarding pool side, beach side, hotel bars and restaurants, again excellent Ritz service. However, expect to pay Ritz prices for drinks and food. Food and drinks were very good. Ritz Signature drinks are $17, a bit pricey, but expected. Also, beware of an automatic 18% gratuity automatically added to any bill. So no real need to add additional tip (unless feeling very generous). However, the 18% gratuity, can be adjusted as you see fit, so dont think it is required.

Valet parking is $38 per day. Enough said.

If you want to go on the internet be prepared to pay $9.95/day, wireless or wired. Free internet is NOT available anywhere in this hotel, even in the lobby (although they do have a computer to print airline boarding passes). Even in the hotels business center you have to pay to use the internet at a rate of $8.95 per 15 minutes, YIKES! At a hotel of this stature and 5-star rating internet should be availble for free. The Starbucks down the road had it for free!

The last is the location. The Ritz South Beach is a more relaxed atmosphere then some other trendy hotels in the area. Plenty of hotels and clubs within walking distance for some good nightlife. There is a walgreens right down the street if you forget anything. Also, taxi's are helpful and suggest good places. I don't think I will even rent a car next time I go. I will surely stay at this Ritz again!

Great location. So close to collin ave, ocean ave, and lincoln ave. Easy walk to the night life. Club level is good food and a great staff. We have stayed here at least once a year for the last 4 years. Beach and seating is great. Rooms are clean but can be on the small side.

Stayed here over new years, and everything was great. Would love to go back. Only downside was that the pool was a little overcrowded and small

Having just stayed at the Fontainbleu up the road from here we were really disappointed with this hotel. On check in we were told the room we had booked wasn't available - there were 3 of us and I had called the hotel in advance to double check we had a room with 2 queen beds, but no I was told they were reserved for other guests and we had a King room and a fold away bed - now for the prices we were paying, it was a 30th birthday celebration , we had 3 big cases that didn't fit in the room with the camp bed!and were we not as important as other guests? needless to say a shambles, the staff were awful. Having waited 45 minutes to see a Manager he said he would sort it out the following night, which he duly did. But then, on moving our luggage from one room to another, they lost a bag full of drinks we'd bought for our stay, now ok we're only talking a couple of bottles of diet coke, water, lemonade etc...but not really the point, they lost it. Again took an hour with numerous calls to 'guest services' to ask if they could find it, they couldn't and argues with me they wouldn't replace the items, eventually a manager siad they would, only to find on check out, I'd been charged for them - a joke really in a top hotel (I didn't want to spend my stay arguing with their staff but I felt like I did) Now for the good bits, the hotel really is in the best location, right on Lincoln road. The bar in the hotel is poor and quiet but it is just up from Ocean Drive so you're near to many great bars, the Pool is great, and lovely views, the staff at the pool by the way were marvellous. If you're staying at this hotel not many rooms have good views from the way the hotel is positioned, so if you do stay in a Lanai pool view room or you will be disappointed.

Three things were good about this resort:
Location, beach access and standard Ritz rooms
Also the breakfast was very good...not impressed by lunch. This is a decent property all in all but not very special. Service was good in general. The bar / pool area was dead on a Saturday night..

Have stayed in numerous RC properties including spending 3 months living in the Tysons Corner RC. The reviews on here are misleading - I feel this is due to the type of clientele who stay in South Beach versus other destinations, ie lower expectations. We were there on honeymoon after getting married and staying in the far superior Brazilian Court in Palm Beach so we had been spoilt.

We were shown to our room which we were told had been upgraded because we were on honeymoon, it was old and tired. I complained and was shown a number of different rooms, eventually we settled in an ocean view suite which was fine but was told the regular rate for this room was $1,300 - I would have been very disappointed if I was paying this amount. Again the room was a little tired and the lighting was terrible.

I asked when the hotel was last renovated and was told that it is constantly being renovated, which is a fob off. A hotel needs a full renovation every 6 years and this property does not look as though it has been touched in a decade.

The positives was the breakfast and the service which was generally good although watch out for errors in the bill when checking out - we found $300 of eroneous charges.
