The location in Ocean Drive is unbeatable in the heart of art deco district. The beach is just across less than 2 minute walk. Spectacular sunrises from the breakfast terrace and ocean-facing rooms.
It's a small hotel (40+rooms) and sometimes the staff are a bit stretched but they are very friendly and do their best to serve.
We stayed in a family suite which is spacious and comfortable.

Room Tip: If you are a light sleeper, try to avoid ocean facing rooms on 2nd floor which get a bit of the musi...

Very nice hotel, in an excellent location, you just have to cross the street to arrive at the beach. We stayed in their basic room, the Deluxe Studio, and had an excellent stay – the room was very comfortable, spacious, with an siting area, and also very quiet. The hotel has a “spoil me plan” that is mandatory, and cost US$ 18 per room per day. It includes the beach chairs and towels, Wi-Fi, breakfast and a happy hour. The breakfast is basic, but very tasty – you get what you want, put in a tray and can eat in the terrace or in your room. The happy hour was very nice – with wine, beer and some snacks, with a great view. The hotel has parking (expensive, but as anywhere in South Beach), and is very close to the shopping area, like Lincoln Road. We really enjoyed our stay there.

We booked an ocean room view for 4 nights. The Edgewater Hotel is in a great location right on Ocean Drive in the middle of the art deco district. Dissapointingley our room 512 was on the 5th floor which was the same level as the terrace where everyone had breakfast, lounged, sunbathed and had evening drinks. As soon as we opened our curtains we were on full view of everyone sitting there. It afforded zero privacy unless the curtails were drawn. There was also a very limited sea view!

Breakfast was very good, better than other hotel we stayed in. Unfortunately it is served outside on the 5th floor terrace and is home to many pigeons that spoiled the relaxed breakfast experience.

Hotel staff were very good and we were able to check out the next day with no penalty. If you are looking for a sea view or privacy when wanting to look out this probable is not the best hotel to choose. If you are looking for a hotel in the middle of where the nightlife and entertainment is on south beach and ocean drive its a good base.

Room Tip: Sea View Rooms are not great value for money - 5th floor is where terrace is based so you can be mor...

Thanks for your objective feedback, Mark. The studio you were in does have a more limited view to the ocean but it's also quite larger than the ones with the direct ocean view below it. We do try to place our guests in the studios or suites that fit them best if we're let known.
We are trying quite a few strategies to reduce the number of our flying visitors and we're certain we'll find something that works. Sorry for the inconvenience they created for you.
We're grateful for your patronage and hope to see you again.

My family enjoyed our weekend stay at the Edgewater. The hotel is located on Ocean Blvd in the quieter part of the strip and close to Lincoln Road. Upon arriving at the hotel, Andre greeted us with a smile, quickly unloaded the bags from our car, and guided us to check-in and our room. Joseph checked us in quickly and told us about the perks of the hotel (free breakfast, happy hour, towels and chairs for the beach...) after giving us the room key to an ocean view room. Upon entering our room, we received a surprise gift of a bottle of wine with a handwritten note from Richard in the manager of housekeeping congratulating us on our wedding anniversary. After Andre placed our bags in the room, he showed us the features of the room. The view of the ocean was amazing. It is definitely worth the extra cost. The room was updated, clean and had a fridge, microwave, sofa, and huge TV with DVD player. Shortly after, Bryon from housekeeping brought us a crib for our little one. Our son loved the Winnie the Pooh bedding. We took advantage of the perks and enjoyed the free drinks at happy hour and free breakfast. We loved the croissants at breakfast..from a local bakery even! They were buttery, light and flakey!! Reminds me of the ones we had in Paris. For the beach, the hotel gave us towels and beach chairs (high quality). Did we mention the croissants?!

We found all the staff to be very pleasant and nice. Overall we enjoyed our stay at the Edgewater and plan to return for our next South Beach vacation.

Great service, Johnathan was helpful from start to finish. He answered all my questions and catered to all my requests. This hotel is at a great location right on Ocean between 14th and 15th. Most importantly, I right across the street from the beach. This hotel use to be an old apartment building. So the room size was great. And, free breakfast in the morning is a treat!

We chose the Edgewater South Beach mainly for its location and positive reviews, but truthfully also for the fact that we were able to book the room with 2 bedrooms and 2 baths (neither had a tub, and only one was en suite). What a luxury to be with a friend and have our own baths! There was also a large living area and an unstocked kitchen with small fridge, sink and double cooktop...but no pans. A nice balcony is off the smaller bedroom. At $301 a night (plus the $18. resort fee and taxes) this was affordable since we were splitting the bill. There is a nice continental b'fast from 0700-1000 each morning, and a happy hour (beverages only) from 6-7 PM. You'll be dodging pigeons, so don't leave your toast on the table and go back for juice. We found that out the hard way.
Yes, the staff is wonderful! They aim to please and seem genuinely happy to be there, from the reservationist on the phone to the guys at the desk. We stayed 5 days and never met a grump.
This stretch of beach (accessed by walking across a pretty park to the dunes) was family- friendly the 4 mornings we swam. Further south by a couple of blocks are the gay, then the topless beaches. Good to know if you're bringing kids. The water had some sea weed, but we were surprised at how clear and turquoise it was. So enjoyable! It seems to rain most mornings, but it was over in 15 minutes and done for the day. By 5:45 PM it cools off and is very pleasant.
The South Beach Shuttle bus is nearby and accesses much of the area for a quarter.
