If you like Cuban food and are in the mid-beach or North Miami area, this is a good place to have a quick and tasty meal. It's a little rough around the edges, and speaking Spanish definitely helps, but the food is generally well prepared and the portions are generous. I can especially recommend the sweet or fried plaintains, the mariquitas (thinly sliced and fried plaintains) as an appetizer or side, the mahi mahi, the chicken dishes and the rice. This is not haute cuisine! Sometimes the cooking can be quite uneven, but if you relax and take it for what it is, you'll have a good time and an enjoyable meal. Note that it can be very busy at night with large (and noisy) groups, so you may have to wait for a table.

“Busy for a Sunday Night”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 9, 2014 via mobile

Came based on the reviews and did not understand. The food was good but they were very busy. Our server was having a hard time keeping up. Friendly staff and good cuisine. The coconut flan was probably one of the best I've ever had.

“Is this the same place we went?”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 14, 2014 via mobile

I am really not sure if this the same restaurant being raved about here on Trip Advisor. The dining room certainly looks NOTHING like the picture shown as you will see by my photos and the food, well it was terrible.

Not being all that familiar with Cuban food we had lots of questions to ask our server that she was not that pleased to answer. She definitely needed an "attitude adjustment." We decided on the lunch special, Bistec de palomilla, a 6 oz palomilla steak with raw onions ($8.95) and Sandwich espanol, a Spanish sandwich on Cuban bread, ham, pork, Spanish sausage, Serrano ham, olive oil and Swiss cheese and Sazon fries ($10.95).

The steak was the better of two unappetizing plates of food. It came with two sides which in this case included black beans and a salad, which was just chopped iceberg lettuce with oil and vinegar plopped on the table as your dressing choice. The sandwich was virtually uneatable. One of the meats on it had a decidedly "off" taste and by deconstructing the sandwich I found it to be the pork. Unfortunately even after removing it from the sandwich the strange taste lingered. The fries were good and those are the only things I had for lunch that day.

Restrooms could be a LOT cleaner and friendly service could have made this experience a lot more bearable.

“Skip the hotel food and drive a few blocks north”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 3, 2014 via mobile

I ate at this restaurant twice while visiting Miami- in Sept 2013 and Feb 2014. The first time, I ate plaintain stuffed rolled chicken with a citrus sauce and the second time, I had chicken with yellow rice and black beans. Both were delicious and filling. My husband's Mojito was perfect- not too sweet and filled with plenty of fresh mint.
