Owner description: We are a small Garden, just 2.6 acres, with a very big mission! We call ourselves an urban oasis in the middle of the glitz and neon of South Beach, a place where locals and visitors can come and enjoy the numerous cultural and artisitic programs that the Garden has to offer. Created as a Miami Beach city park in 1962, the Garden was rejuvenated in the fall of 2011 with a $1.2 Million landscape renovation by acclaimed South Florida landscape architect Raymond Jungles. We invite you to discover the new features of the Garden – a wetland with red mangrove and pond apple trees, an expansive water garden with cascading oolite fountain, a welcoming entrance plaza, and diverse collection of flowering trees, palms, cycads, orchids, bromeliads and Florida native species.

A short walk from the hustle of SOBE what a great spot just to browse, relax and reflect. Particularly beautiful spot for kissing in the rain....!

Miami's lush habitat for grown-ups and children with an invitation to enjoy a blooming and fertile ecosystem specific to this part of the United States. It's sweet!

“Tranquility in the middle of SoBe”
Reviewed April 9, 2013

Situated between the Holocaust Memorial and the Convention centre of Dade Blvd, this is a haven. Staff are readily available to talk to you about the different plants and trees, there is some fantastic artwork in the pools and even a Farmer's market on Thursdays (I seem to remember) and you can also purchase plants in the small nursery. The parakeets that fly in and out of there are also truly beautiful. A chilled out way to spend a few hours.

Thank you so much for your words of praise and, in fact, the title you chose for your review says it all. We at the Garden view it as a small, glorious oasis in the middle of the Glitz 'n Glam of South Beach, where visitors and families can escape for a few minutes, an hour or half a day (bring a picnic!) and enjoy the beauty and calm of nature. Thank you also for your "shout out" to our great staff (there are only 5 of them, plus a few volunteers) who have plenty to do in their regular duties, but who are always glad to stop what they are doing to answer your questions. Our Farmer's Market is, in fact, on Wednesday from 11 am to 5 pm - always a good day to come for shopping or an organic lunch. That Market is season and will conclude in mid-April but start up again in the fall. And don't forget to visit our new Edible Garden, located in the back of the garden near the Collins Canal, where herbs and vegetables native to our climate are growing. Come visit!

“TRANQUIL AND VISIT OFTEN”
Reviewed March 18, 2013

Recently re landscaped.
Across from the back of the Miami Beach Convention Center, and the Hollocaust Memorial. Great place to run to when tensions rise. NO CHARGE for the visit.

It is always a special compliment when a local resident gives high praise to the Garden as this visitor - who says she comes often - does. And she is right on the money: noted landscape architect Raymond Jungles did a smashing $1 million re-do of the Garden last year and it is now better than ever -- and still FREE. So if you have not been to see us in a while, be sure to stop by soon to see :how our Garden grows"!

Wonderful things come in small packages, as this reviewer suggests, and a visit to the Miami Beach Botanic Garden will underscore this observation perfectly. So much is going on here, from the Wednesday Green Market to art exhibits, concerts, orchid lectures - you name it! Come check us out. We are only 2.6 acre, but we pack a big punch!
