Like many other reviews have stated, get ready to be scammed!
My wife ordered Tilapia but when the bill came the charge was for a much more expensive fish. The waiter: "Well, could you not taste the difference"
The bill also had a charge for a "Sinai donation" whatever that is.
The food was not very good. Certainly not worth the tourist prices they charge. I see many other reviews complain about the restaurant adding service charge. That is done in all South Beach restaurants, so not much you can do about that, but you can certainly find a restaurant with better food and better service than the Carlyle Cafe.

Be careful about this place. Charged us 20% extra service charge, also told us the first drink was free but then charged $25 PER DRINK. The bill for JUST drinks was $125 for 5 people...

The food was good. The drinks huge! Reasonable prices with discounts before 9 p.m. They had a great guitar solooist who was playing Spanish, Latin American music and Flamenco style music.

Atmosphere - ok
Food - horrible
Had fettuccine w/ chicken it was served medium warm and the pizza was a grease trap, worst restaurant I've ever been too, the only thing good is that it's across from beach, the owner(s) need to donate space to some good cooks
Drinks - highly over priced
Don't waste your time or money

We walked Ocean Dr on a Sunday night and decided on The Carlyle due to the live guitar player out front. He was playing soft music, there was breeze off the ocean and plenty of nice cars driving by. Since we're from the midwest we get plenty of fresh beef, so we didn't order the special. Instead we ordered the grilled seafood dish for two. I'm sorry that we didn't ask the price before we agreed to get the dinner for two. But, we got a full lobster tail, a decent sized piece of mahi mahi, salmon and 8 decent sized shrimp. Enough salad and roasted russet potatoes for 4 people, just water to drink and paid $145.00. It was a great meal, great atmosphere and good service, so we didn't feel like we had too much to complain about. Thank goodness that $145, included gratuity. ;o]
