Owner description: People watching is a great pastime in Miami's South Beach, which draws celebrities and beautiful people in skimpy swim attire to see and be seen. The wide and fine, white sand-covered beaches are popular spots for fashion photo shoots, so you're sure to see models. The area is known for its hip clubs and wild nightlife as well as numerous excellent restaurants.

I have enjoyed many aspects of South Beach. The most popular is the Art Deco section of hotels just across from the beach. There are wonderful eateries all along Ocean Drive. There is Yoga on the beach everyday at the South Point beach around 7:30 am and parking on the street is free at this time.

Lincoln Road is another "people watching" spot with blocks and blocks of open mall style shopping with varied restaurants, including the famed Balans for that Sunday brunch. One can see all types of tourists and celebrities strolling the strip. i happened to see Courtney and Kim K. one day while I was in Starbucks across the BofA building. This coffee spot has an interior viewing bar for those wanting to have their coffee in the air conditioning while people watching and they have added a new outdoor section with large umbrellas shading their guests.

This is an ever changing area who just converted the old Theater into the now H&M. The historical group is very active keeping as much of the past preserved as possible. There are many venues in Miami Beach. From the Jackie Gleason Filmore auditorium where various acts perform, to the New World Orchestra's ultra modern venue with weekly Wednesday movies on its gigantic white surface in the front while patrons bring blankets and chairs. The landscaping is just as phenomenal as the structure and I must admit, I have not had the good fortune to make one of the performances inside....YET.

So much to say and do in South Beach. There is public parking in several areas, but if you are hitting Lincoln Road, I recommend the 17th St. Garage. The rates are reasonable and it is almost in the center of the Lincoln Road promenade.

The only downside right now is the road construction to replace sewer/drainage lines all over the city. It seems like so many streets have been torn up and re-patched, but I have not seen any that are "complete". Maybe the plan is to do the replacement, patch over the work then re-pave all the roads.

Perfect temperature to wade/swim, with long shallow waters - lovely start to the day! Beat the crowds - a before breakfast dip is perfect. Bring flip-flops as sand is coarse. Lovely clean beach with very little rubbish, good lifeguard coverage, and plenty of showers to dust off sandy feet before crossing to the bustling Ocean Drive.

Not a lot to say. It's expensive to spend a day on the beach. It's large, wide and sandy but has no "soul".

It's very expensive but you don't have to spend a lot to have fun, you can walk down Lincoln for family eateries and ocean is the place where everything happens after dark, it's perfect for people watching. You can rent a bike or Segway and go for a tour. The beach is a perfect place to chill out by the water and put your feet in the Atlantic.
