Owner description: People watching is a great pastime in Miami's South Beach, which draws celebrities and beautiful people in skimpy swim attire to see and be seen. The wide and fine, white sand-covered beaches are popular spots for fashion photo shoots, so you're sure to see models. The area is known for its hip clubs and wild nightlife as well as numerous excellent restaurants.

My hotel provided an excellent book on the history of South Beach and it's glamorous past. Those days of Gable, Sinatra and the rest are long gone. Today's stars have their secure retreats the the smaller islands off Miami Beach leaving South Beach a tacky, down-market shadow of it's former self.

If you plan to go there for a day, avoid a weekend as you will never find a place to park on the street. Valet parking costs $25 and up. Try to park near Lincoln Road and walk to SOBE. You do not need dinner reservations as there are many fine restaurants at all price ranges open all day and night. Dress casually-No formal wear required.

Reviewed February 8, 2013

we have spent several days in south beach or as it's defined: sobe.
this is the heart beat of the city of miami.
it never sleeps. in the morning you can see people training on the road or enjoy the whole day at the beach or hang around to do some shopping and in the night all the clubs will welcome you till the following morning.

“South Beach/ Miami/ Florida”
Reviewed February 8, 2013

I had a fantastic time last summer to Miami. I was there with my brotrher for 2 days only coz we went on a cruise to the Bahamas:) South beach is amazing, the ocean is warm and too many people and jetskies around! I was amazed also from the prices: 18 dollars the unmbrella and 15 dollars the sunbed! but it worths....otherwise u will get burn from the hot sun of july-agost. Across the street is the famous Ocean drive avenue and the heart of the Art Deco District, with beautiful pastel colors colonial buildings! Gianni Versace was having his coffee at News Caffe, as well as Robert De Niro and Al Pacino ....this area is well known as the 'Cannes of the States'!
