We took the Art Deco walking tour on a Friday morning. The Welcome Center is very easy to find and the staff there were very helpful. Our large group was broken up into two groups of about 12 each. Marty our tour guide was very knowledgable and experienced in giving tours. It was well worth the time and money for the tour, even if you have a limited interest in Art Deco architecture. The tour gives you a much better overall history of why the district even exists. It is a very easy walk and slow paced, so you do not need to worry about walking too far or too much. Marty had a very good grasp of the origins of the style and the evolution of it in the buildings in Miami Beach. He engages the audience and does not put up with any nonsense from interlopers! If you have the time and the slightest interest, do this tour. I would definitely do any of their tours on a future visit.

My husband and I just spent several very pleasant and informative hours taking a walking tour of Jewish Miami Beach. Howard B., our tour guide, conceived this tour and has recently introduced it as a regular offering (the second Sunday of each month) of the Miami Design Preservation League. He did a terrific job of presenting a wealth of fascinating information in a clear and well-organized fashion. I learned a great deal not only about the Jewish presence in Miami Beach over the course of the 20th century and beyond, but also about the architectural history and revitalization efforts in Miami Beach. The tour started in front of the Jewish Museum on Washington Ave. at 3d and then proceeded southward to 1st St. and then over to Collins and Ocean Drive up to 7th and then back on Washington Ave. to the Museum where the tour started. The walking was broken up by well-chosen stops to learn about a particular building, site, or issue. Tickets may be purchased on the spot shortly before the tour starts. My only reservation about the tour is the amount of walking involved between stops, which might be excessive for those who are not good and fairly fast walkers. I would highly recommend the tour to anyone interested in local Jewish history, architecture, or the urban evolution of Miami Beach!

Our guide was called Candice, and she was full of energy and wit! I had no idea we were going to learn so much fascinating history packed into the one and a half hours, and the time flew by. There were opportunities to sit down in hotel lobbies, and on walls, on the way- so don't feel put off by the enthusiasm! Would thoroughly recommend this tour.

My husband and I visited Miami Beach for just two days and one of those days we took the Art Deco Walking Tour as we are both interested in architecture. Our guide was Pamela Asher who originally comes from the UK. Pamela was a very professional guide and she told us a lot about the history of Miami Beach as well as the history of the different Art Deco hotels. She is very knowledgeable so we definitely recommend this tour if you want to know more about all the fabulous Art Deco buildings in Miami Beach and their history.

My partner and I were on a tour with Ken at Christmas time. An excellent tour - we thoroughly enjoyed hearing about the history of Miami Beach and the Art Deco buildings.Ken's local knowledge was an added bonus. I'd certainly recommend the tour.
One tip - when you're taking to the group don't turn away - your voice fades!
