“Worth every cent”
Reviewed February 26, 2012

A really great tour - our guide Kenn was great. He really made learning about the "Art Deco Style" and the history of preserving the historic hotels in Miami Beach a treat. You only walk a few blocks, but the sights and information was unbeatable. Be sure and return to see the lobby of some of the hotels he pointed out after the tour is over,.

“First class tour”
Reviewed February 26, 2012

We spend one day only in SoBe and were very happy to have choosed this tour. Very clear explanations of our guide, with also a very clear pronunciation, easy to understand for a foreigner...We learned many things on history of Art Deco architecture in SoBe.
We strongly recommend this tour, that you can complete with your own walking tour.

“Excellent french iPod audio tour”
Reviewed February 24, 2012

Very nice and instructive one hour audio walking tour with an iPod, in french. Some other languages available. You can move around, with provided map of the district, at your own pace. The best way to see art deco in South Beach. The provided earphones (ear buds) where clean, but you can use yours if you want !

“A great tour of South Beach--best at night when it's all lit up!”
Reviewed February 24, 2012

Tours are available several times during the week, but we chose the evening tour (Thursdays), because you really don't want to miss the neon lights. Our guide was really generous with his commentary, leading about 30 of us around several blocks to examine the Art Deco hotels and eateries, entering several of the hotel lobbies. He had interesting stories to go with each view, and gave us recommendations for visiting additional ones on our own. His explanations were on several levels, thus appealing to some teenagers in attendance as well as the usual collection of adults. He explained the development of the Art Deco movement, telling us what is not Art Deco as well as what is. The tour took nearly two hours of leisurely walking. Street parking (metered) was available within a block of the starting point. About $3 got us enough time to first enjoy a great meal (at the Breakwater, half a block from the tour starting point) and then do the tour. A terrific experience!

“Don't Miss These Old Gems of Miami Beach!”
Reviewed February 20, 2012

It's frightening to think that so much history was this close to being lost to neglect and greed. But through the outstanding work of the Miami Design Preservation League, many of the old structures have been saved and restored. Don't miss the opportunity to take the tour - it's only an hour and a half long - and take in some great examples of 1940s vintage Miami Beach Art Deco along with a some stops taking in Mediterranean Revival, and Miami Modern (MiMo) structures. Definitely worth the time. I would recommend trying for a week day tour as larger weekend groups don't have the opportunity to see interior spaces as readily.
