“Absolutely Best Asian Cuisine”
Reviewed April 9, 2012

We lived in Curaçao, Dutch Caribbean for many years. Since coming to Miami, this has to be one of our best culinary experiences....so we keep coming back! Owners Peter and Inneke have come up with a perfect combination of excellent food and attentive service. The atmosphere is relaxed and understated, but casually elegant. Their fare is freshly prepared, artfully presented and cooked to perfection. Indonesian dishes at their best, prepared for the connoisseurs and the ones just being introduced to this unique cuisine. Try the Rijstaffel: the sweet Java or the more spicy Sumatra. Desserts are very good too: mango sorbet, black rice pudding or the cinnamon layered cake. Worth the visit, even if it is far from the more frequented spots on South Beach.

“Friendly service and authentic rijstafel experience”
Reviewed April 9, 2012

My daughter and I emailed the restaurant at the very last minute looking for a table on a Thursday night in March. We received a very prompt reply informing us that although the restaurant was fully booked, we would be welcome to eat at the bar. We accepted this suggestion and were not sorry that we did.

The cosy restaurant is located in an unassuming building that would be easy to miss. The decor is simple but pleasant. We ordered the rijsttafel "Java" for two. Although the quantity of food was not as plentiful as I remember having at Indonesian restaurants in the Netherlands, certainly the flavours were convincingly authentic. Pieter, the owner of the restaurant, kindly checks on the diners and is very hospitable. I would definitely recommend trying this restaurant and would happily return.

“Romantic, stylish and soothing ambiance combined with great food and service to make this a highlight of our brief visit to Mi”
Reviewed March 30, 2012

This intimate spot, away from the main thoroughfares of Miami and bustle of South Beach, provided a wonderful closure to our recent FL visit.
The specialty (Rijsttafel) was well worth the wait, artfully presented, graciously served and freshly prepared to suit our taste preferences. We had not enjoyed this type of cuisine since our last visit to the Netherlands, years ago. Our dinner was graced by a visit by the owner and his wife, the chef, both were charming, natural hosts. We hope to return and continue exploring this marvelous cuisine and our mutual affinity for great food and photography!

“Great little gem of a restaurant”
Reviewed March 28, 2012

Interesting Indochinese dishes, served in a quaint setting. The place is run by the owners; Peter is behind bar and playing at being maitre de, wife Ineke is in kitchen cooking up great, savory dishes, and tall beautiful daughter is doing everything else. The staff and ambience is friendly. Don't have time to write long review but it's a great place with unusual cuisine served at very affordable prices. A couple should be able to get out for under $100 with wine. Try the Rijsttafel dinners which are Indonesian version of a tasting menu of 14-16 small, varied dishes at $24-30 per person.
