The hotel was ideally located and the staff was very nice. The outside front patio is great for people watching and relaxing after a busy day. Our room was located in the back on the first floor by the public parking lot. We were afraid it might be noisy, but it was not a problem. Only downside was no tissue paper in the room and they didn't have any red wine at happy hour.

My wife and I stayed three nights here during the South Beach Food and Wine Festival. Though we haven't stayed here previously, I picked this place due to its proximity to the festival--my wife has a bad knee and can't walk far--,its relative value for the area, and its ranking among Tripadvisor hotels in Miami Beach. We were not disappointed though we were probably among the older guests at this hotel, perhaps at the festival as well. I expected more retirees and fifty-somethings at the beach here but that certainly wasn't the case.

On the upside, the staff here is small-town friendly offering a pleasant hello with each encounter. The valets (there's no on-site parking) are helpful as well even if they don't always speak English. The location is fine though I might quibble with those who call the Lincoln pedestrian mall a "very short" walk. I figure it to be more like a half-mile, and watch out for the taxis as some don't watch out for you. The very comfortable hotel veranda was our favorite spot, when the smokers weren't congregating there, as it provided a wonderful opportunity for people-watching, which seems to be a very popular activity. I'll try to attach a picture. Since we're pushing 60, sitting and staring at people or watching the busy valet staff do their job is where it's at for us. I also liked the high ceiling and showerhead in the bath; I enjoyed the rainshower effect washing the stickiness off after a warm, humid day in the sun. The bigger-than-normal closet was a plus, since we could cram it full with coolers and beach chairs as well as our suitcases. We might have been the rare guests to drag our beach chairs two, three blocks to the beach but by god if we're paying $250 a night for a room here, I'm not going to pay extra to rent a chaise lounge.

On the negative side, I had more trouble hooking up to the free wi-fi here than I did at the Super 8 in Kentucky, and I don't think it was my computer acting up. And as others have said, the room is small and the continental breakfast offering also about what you'd get at a Super 8 in Kentucky as well--toast, bagels and cereal. The lounge/breakfast area furniture is funky too with a lot of high-sitting chairs and tables. Maybe the hotel originally was patronized by a race of giants. If your room is adjacent to the public parking lot, which our's was, plan on being awakened in the wee hours of the morning by loud voices and the like. One such loud political discussion at 3:30 in the morning went on longer than some fillibusters in Congress. Also, there was no TV channel guide in our room. That's a mortal sin for my wife who has to watch Jeopardy nightly regardless of where we're at.

All said, we would stay here again, certainly if we were attending the South Beach Wine and Food Festival. It's not as pretty nor as lively as the art deco hotels on Oceanside, nor as upscale and comfortable as Loews and the adjacent beach-side hotels directly to the north, but for our purposes it was just right.

We stayed at the La Flora on a Thursday night and again on the following Monday, and our experiences both nights were excellent. The location is perfect- a block to Ocean Drive and a very short walk to both Espaniola and Lincoln pedestrian malls. The staff couldn't have been friendlier or more helpful, and the rooms were clean and comfortable. It is a great value for the area, especially since they include a drinks in their nice bar area (and outdoor patio) the first night and breakfast every morning. We found their patio to be a nice place to relax and watch the people stroll by. They went out of their way to accommodate us when we arrived from a cruise at 8:30 in the morning. We will definitely be coming back!

The hotel is located two blocks from Ocean Drive and the beach - really good and still very quiet at night!!!
At the reception we received friendly and competent staff!!!
The hotel and especially our room was very clean. The room had everything what you need, a comfortable bed, bath / WC, air conditioning, TV, table, chair, etc. Breakfast is displayed in the foyer, there is coffee, orange juice, bagels with butter, cream cheese and jams, boiled eggs and small cup cakes. We were 10 days there and the staff was very friendly and always helpful!!

We will come back safely...
