This was my 3rd trip to South Beach in the last year. I have previously stayed at Eden Roc (previously Marriott owned) & Fountainbleau. The Marriott Stanton South Beach has a great location oceanfront right on Ocean Dr. It is right across from the delicious Prime 112 and next to Prime Italian. Since we were only there for a long weekend, this location was perfect as we did not have to take a taxi anywhere. This hotel is definitely less of a "resort" feel, but it was sufficient for what we needed (beach, pool, nice room and nice location). The pools are a little smaller, but the hotel was not super busy so it didn't matter. The hotel was just renovated, so the rooms were spacious, clean and new. We were upgraded to an oceanfront room which had a great balcony with beautiful views of the beach. There isn't much nightlife at the hotel. It seemed like everyone went out for dinner and or drinks. If you like a quiet hotel with a great location right on the beach and ocean drive - this is definitely a great hotel. Check out my other reviews of Fountaibleau and Eden Roc - certainly a different atmoshphere depending on what you are looking for out of your trip.

Incredibly friendly staff. Every person was quick to say hello. Always helpful. My daughter developed a cold and the beach staff was kind enough to bring her a box of tissues. The next day, several staff asked me as well as my daughter how she was feeling. Personal. Boutique-like standard of excellence. The hotel has a large number of rooms, but it did not feel like it. It is well set-up for access to pool and beach. The lobby is not overwhelming like some of the gigantic hotels in the area. Every person seemed to go out of their way to provide good service. Even the maintenance staff that I ran into on elevators were so kind. The housekeeping staff, (the woman who took care of our room was extremely kind to me too), the wait staff (Burton and many others), the pool staff (Patty, always with a big smile) as well as the front desk staff and bellmen. We were also sent up a complimentary fruit and cheese tray when the front staff realized we had visited about 16 years ago and were returning this time because of a sad, but special anniversary. The rooms are lovely; recently renovated. Great bed linens, good shower, nice set-up with built-in furniture if you need a space to open your laptop etc. Balcony had great visibility of the ocean. The hotel is in a convenient location to restaurants, all within walking distance. And the concierge staff know their stuff, too. We enjoyed the fresh salads and delicious breakfasts. My daughter and I chose Miami because it was an easy direct flight for us to escape the bitter winter and to be somewhere to mark the first anniversary of my son's death. We wanted to be able to soak up the sun and be by the ocean. We were looking for a quality hotel where we could relax. We found it and were very grateful for the outstanding service we received.

Room Tip: We were given an east-west facing room. I could watch the sunrise and the sunset from my balcony. It was wonderful. In fact, I will always ask to see if this kind of room is available wherever I stay - it was that special.

Not only was the location fabulous for a South Beach vacation, but the staff was too.
The rooms were all redone and the concierge lounge was as good as any in the chain.
You could walk to the beach or shopping or people watching. Directly across the street from the hottest restaurants in town.

Room Tip: Ocean view with concierge lounge access works perfectly

Seth and the staff were once again out standing. We arrived early and the room wasn't ready yet but this was expected. The staff stored our bags and we changed and headed down to the beach. When we returned our rooms were still not ready and they provided a voucher for the inconvience. The room was then ready about 30 minutes later and it was on one of the renovated floors and it looked great.

Otherwise can't beat the location, ocean front room and easy beach access. I'm already thinking about next time.

We landed in Miami and hopped in a cab to the South Beach Marriott. It was still pretty early so we correctly assumed that our room wouldn't be ready. The hotel held our bags for us and we headed out for some lunch.

After lunch we headed back to the South Beach Marriott (which was brightly and boldly decorated for Christmas) and our room was ready. Before heading up the room the staff offered us a complimentary Mojito. That is the way to start a vacation!! The room was bright, airy, and modern with two full size beds. We also had a nice view of the ocean (no balcony but did have a sliding window), counter top, chair, coffee maker, refrigerator, shower, and large bathroom.

Breakfast was buffet style and offered a good variety. The one downside was the service. There really wasn't enough staff to handle the guests inside and outside. It took us ages to flag someone down to order drinks.
