“Very good experience at Riviera Suite”
Reviewed October 2, 2009

Well located not far from Ocean Drive and close to beach. Hotel has been a good pick in Miami. rooms comfortable and very well arranged, kitchen in suites and furniture is impressing as reminds a sort of elegant and old fashioned (old in a very positive way) style. Breakfast could be better we couldn't say we,ve been spoiled on that. Staff has been very helpful and room rate was a great value. Haven't seen a hotel restaurant and couldn't find a spa. Maybe we haven't paied enough attention on that. Very good the free sunbeds (15 bucks for umbrellas, anyway) on the closest spot of beach. We did enjoy our stay at Riviera Suite.

My wife and I went to Miami for the night. We found the Riviera Suites on hotwire, and since we were just going to be in Miami for a night stay, figured we'd give it a try. The pics looked good, and their website really sells it.

Overall, the place is clean ad the rooms are pretty cool. Very modern feel, nice bed, great shower. It's also in a pretty good location, just on the edge of South Beach and North Beach off of Collins Ave. It's close to Lincoln Rd. area and Espanola Rd, which we found to be good places to eat and people watch. Also, it's 2 blocks from the beach, and they do have "complimentary" beach chairs.

That is where you need to be careful. There is nothing complimentary about what they offer. You pay a $15 (actually ends up being $16.95 with taxes) resort fee for the use of teh pool, the complimentart beach chairs, and the "free" happy hour in the bar. Oh by the way-- they don't have a bar, even though their website says it and they have books in the room that say it. You have to go to their sister hotel, the Catalina (a couple blocks away) for the happy hour. FYI- means free well vodka, gin, and rum.

The other problem with the hotel is that it's loud. The rooms all have hardwood floors, so you can hear everything above you. It's just generaly pretty loud.

Anyway--- it was a nice place, but they need to get real with what they offer and what you are actually paying for. Guess if you're gonna go cheap on hotwire, you generally get what you pay for.

Dear Guest:

It's was a pleasure for us to having you two as our guests, thank you very much for your review and stay.

I'm very sorry that your experience at our Hotel wasn't pleasant. It's our obligation as a responsible entity to let you know all of our fees when you book a room, if you take a look on the terms and conditions of your reservation, your going to discover that the extra charge was mentioned very clear, even if you book through Hotwire.

We are very proud of the pleasant tranquility that you can breathe on our hotel, in the case that you experience noise coming from another room, there is always a front desk agent to help you with the inconvenience.

Thank you again for your review!

Best Regards,

thats all i can say abouth the riviera hotel.. i stayed there fore 10 days, and let me tell you something, for the price that you pay, you can only be gratefull, because it is great value for your money, and take this from a person that has travelled all over the world, so is not like im new to the hotel world. i have stayed in hotels all over the world and payed a lot of money for tiny desorganized and ugly hotel rooms. the Riviera has many features that makes it great, like the spacious suites, the two plasma tvs, the pull and also has a great staff including the room maides.
im definetly goiing back there in march for spring break.

Nice room - more like an apartment. We got there at 12.30pm, and they wanted us to pay $20 extra to check in early, though when the manager appeared they changed their minds as we were going to use the pool anyway, and they were valet parking the car. (by the way - the multi-storey car par charges $12 per 6 hours, so to park overnight, or 24 hours will cost you $44 - so it is cheaper to go for the valet parking which is $30.
Good breakfast which is included in the price of the room.
Check who you are booking with - if you book direct, they only charge you $10 resort fee, if you book with other agents they charge you up to $15 per person per night - often it is just as cheap to book direct with the hotel - or hotels.com - they charge no finders fee unlike some others.

Riviera Suites Hotel was excellent. Rented 1 bdrm suite for 3 of my friends for my 35rd birthday last wknd and it was so spacious and beautifully designed with plasma tvs, marble kitchenette, glass shower. Hotel employees from mgr to housekeeping for was helpful and friendly. Pool area was great and secluded. One and half blocks to the beach and nightlife. Will definitely come back!

hi my name is "lilly" i stayed at the riviera suites in july for a 4 night stay, saying that the rooms are absolutely stunning would be a an understatement, they are plush, luxurious, sapcious and comfortable. when i first got there i honestly didnt expect such big rooms. i read some other reviews and i was hesitant; i agree with one review stating that the reception desk is a joke, it is, i feel bad for the agents, they are hidden in a closet. however the service was great, i blive orlando checked me in, and i got un upgrade to a ph suite, wonderful, i did pay for the upgrade, but it was worth every penny!!!!!
then the front desk in the evening, c.j was great too, he pointed us to the hot spots , gave us vip acces to many of them, he took care of our transportation to the airport, and all our needs. recommended restaurants, and when we were lazy gave us some delivery menus..... the houskeeping was great very clean, however we did have to call down for towels,it seem like they are having a shortage....... other than that its a butiful place it has a cute pool areaa tooo with litte cabbanas. i cant wait to come back. absolutely a wonderful stay
