“Perfect location, wonderful studio, top notch service!”
Reviewed January 25, 2013

I just had one of the most relaxing and satisfying stays at a hotel in South Beach that I have ever experienced. First of all, we stayed in the 'studio edition' of the 2 buildings...and the decor is crisp, clean and the hotel lobby to hallways to rooms are immaculate. Service is superb....we even had hotel staff bringing us ice to our room, already in ice bucket, there was always someone to open lobby doors whether we had luggage or not. The pool area is unbelievable and just watch you would expect to find from the impression given of a 'south beach pool'...it's cozy, yet large enough for a good number of people to enjoy, but the furniture is arranged so that you have quiet spaces and a good separation of guests, if you want it that way. The location couldn't be better being just a few blocks from the beach (you have access to another Beach Group hotel at the beach for dining and access). The hotel is also located near Lincoln Rd, the convention center, the Bass Museum, etc. I would highly recommend this spot for an enjoyable stay. Couple of things to think about however....1) the two buildings are very different in decor...the suites building is darker and more traditional-ish as you can see from the images...the studio building is crisp, clean, white with pops of color and the rooms are modern...very nice. 2) We heard that the very beautiful breakfast served poolside is going to be discontinued which made us sad....this was one of the highlights of our visit, having breakfast poolside. I hope they DO NOT take away the breakfast. Otherwise, you'll truly enjoy the complex.

Room Tip: See above, but specifically, choose the studio or suite buildings according to the space you need an...

We recently stayed a week in South Beach and stayed at three hotels: the Riviera Suites, The Edge Water, and the Richmond. We stayed at the Riviera Suites three nights and were extremely happy with our stay; it was my favorite of the three. The room was a nice size and very clean with good quality furnishings, very comfortable mattress, nice pillows and linens. The décor of the hotel common areas and rooms were also very nice and modern and not the typical generic decor. The service at the hotel was excellent too. All the staff was very friendly and helpful, I was trying to keep track of names of everyone who was great but it was really everyone from the front desk to the cleaning women to the doorman! After the first day they all acted like they knew us personally and were extremely nice to our very talkative three year old. For the price the amenities and quality of the place were excellent: free airport shuttle, wonderful breakfast (fresh fruit, french toast, cereal, eggs, pastries) beach towels and chairs, great pool area, and a daily complimentary happy hour all within blocks of the beach and the heart of shops and restaurants of South Beach! There were a few negatives but I definitely thought they were overshadowed by the positives. First, while they give you vouchers for beach chairs from their sister hotel you have to pay an extra $15 for an umbrella which I thought was ridiculous and a cheap shot especially since the chairs, pillows, and umbrella were all in poor shape and you could get a better quality umbrella to use all week from a local shop for $10. Second, you do have to walk about three blocks to get to the beach from hotel however we were walking around everyone in the area anyway so a couple block walk to the beach was not a big tradeoff considering the positives of the stay for me. Third, we stayed in the studio rooms so our rooms were in a separate building across the street from the pool and breakfast not a huge deal but an inconvenience especially coming from the pool and it was worsened by the fact that there are massive construction projects going on in the street in between the two buildings. You had to walk around backhoes, skid steers, compactors, concrete trucks… and the noise outside was awful. However once inside we could not hear it at all even in the mornings when we slept in we were not interrupted by construction noise at all and once outside the doormen of the two buildings quickly tried to help you navigate the mess. Again overall for the price we paid, $88 per night, it was my top pick with extremely nice rooms, staff, and amenities. If we could get around the same price next time we go down we would definitely choose the Riviera Suites again and but do hope the construction will be completed.

Stayed here as part of a deal with a cruise and was generally quite happy. Yes, there is building work going on outside but they can hardly be blamed for that and it does not interfere with the hotel. From what I can tell the rooms in the one building are 'rooms' while those in the other block are 'suites'. The room was a bit cluttered for our taste but obviously that's all part of the boutique decor. Well stocked mini bar and snack tray - i don't think any more expensive than usual. Minor gripe was that the shower screen wasn't big enough so the water went over the toilet / shower room floor (sink, for some reason was outside this room). Major gripe though was the bathroom door. Why do designers think it acceptable to have a glass door to the toilet??? Reception was OK - far more casual than most British guests would expect from a hotel but I have become used to that in Florida hotels. Parking is expensive ($32 valet parking per night) but to be honest it didn't seem much cheaper in the nearby garage. Parking is obviously at a premium all along this area. I think that the thing to remember here is that this is Miami Beach. It's not going to be cheap. Went to a nice restaurant advertised in the rooms - Maxines, which is just a 5 minute walk away and has a good atmosphere with live music and excellent service.
Generally I would recommend this hotel. It has a good location and clean comfortable rooms.

we booked this hotel for 4 people.we were given sofa-bed with broken springs.Even after requesting to change mattress it took two days to replace that...One night toilet choked and no one was there to fix that....it took one hour to find hotel representative and we were told that this will be fixed tomorrow.. on top of that security guy turned up at 1 AM with suction pump and told us to clean that..so if you guys need plumbing and cleaning job experience this is best hotel for you guys... when we complaint about this to manager she told us that this is hotel policy to not provide maintenance in night...

I reserved a room in the hotel during 2012 xmas holidays. I expected to stay in the hotel while upon my arrival I was told I will be staying in a building cross the street from the main hotel. My hotel room had a window opening to the wall few feet away so it was almost dark all day. the sink was in the bedroom and water was splashing all over the floor. I had to cross the street at 2:00 a.m. to get ice from main building, Front desk staff were friendly but not very knowledgeable. Rooms were clean but over crowded with furniture. There a Happy Hour for hotel guests but bartender is so mean that I was hesitant to ask him for a drink. The pool area is not in mint condition and requires better maintenance. Breakfast was OK if you are looking for an average coffee, cereal or toast and butter.
I got the room for a very good rate and stayed there just 2 nights so for the money the place was OK. I changed to a real 4 star hotel for rest of my vacation.
In general, this is 3 start hotel and should not be advertised as a 4 start hotel.

We stayed there one night. When we arrived to the hotel, the streets looked like a war zone, completely taken by the construction. The first thing we saw were hookers walking around the hotel. The room was very small, bathroom was tiny. Even from the room away from the construction we could still here a lot of noise. Did not have any breakfast there, just wanted to leave it asap. This is not a 4 star, maybe 2. This place is not a resort, don't understand a resort fee $15? And parking is very expensive. I will never stay there again.

Good Morning Faircomments2day,

Thank you for posting your honest feedback! We apologize that you came to stay with us during the time that the City of Miami Beach decided to make things better for our neighborhood. This is only going to last a short while longer and then will be over and all back to normal! There are no hookers that come to Riviera. I am sorry that you were mistaken by the attire that the girls wear here. Lots of the women in South Beach dress very provocative which makes people think that they are hookers. We have never considered our property as a resort. We are a fun and hip boutique hotel. The $15 resort fee covers all of the amenities that you like to enjoy such at the R/T shuttle from MIA Airport, complimentary cocktail hour from 7-8, beach towels and chairs, etc. The parking is average price for parking at a hotel on the beach. You are able to take your car in and out as many times as you'd like in a day. Other garages and lots charge you a flat rate every time that you want to take your car out.

Have a great day!

We spent an over night after our cruise and found this place via Hotwire. Like others have said the rooms are small but is more on the plush and trendy side of things as this is a boutique hotel. They offer a mini bar service for a price, have a large screen TV and a seperate sound system for stereo, I-pod dock and such. The hotel seemed to be on the quieter side when we were there. Aside from paying the Hotwire price you are required to pay a 15.00 resort fee upon arrival. The fee is worth it as they offer towels and chairs for the beach, have free cocktails from 7 to 8 at their bar and they provide free shuttle service to Miami International. The staff was very friendly and helpful. They provided us with restaraunt recommendations and pointed us in the right direction for some good shopping. We found a great Italian Restaraunt just around the corner from the hotel "Sylvanos Ristorante" the food and service was outstanding. The Beach is a short walk from the hotel and is a must see. I would love to return here again. Spending just a day was more of a tease for us as we went from 82 degrees to 9 below zero in Minnesota the next day.
