“European old world charm”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 21, 2013 via mobile

The Cadet Hotel has a fantastic location and is most certainly a boutique hotel. There is an European old world charm to this establishment, evident in both the common spaces and the rooms. The room we stayed in was small by American standards but right on par with many rooms we have stated in throughout Europe. It was appointed with furniture scaled for the room and felt cozy. The cadet Hotel does the little things very well, we had a welcome letter addressed to us waiting in the room with a bowl of fresh fruit and and thank you letter slipped under our door for check out. The porter was friendly and courteous as was the front desk clerk.
We did not try the bar in the lobby but it looked well stocked and even had an espresso machine. There was a piano in the lobby but we did not hear anyone playing it. In our room (206) there was evidence of water damage on the floor just below the air conditioning unit, it looks as if it has been there for a while. They burn inscents in the lobby, it was not particularly overpowering but some guests may be sensitive to the fragrance. Like other hotels we have stayed in on South Beach breakfast is a costly endevour. There are many places just around the corner to get a great breakfast at half the cost. All in all this was a nice place to stay, I have no reservations recommending this hotel.

This hotel is a gem in the middle of South Beach. It is a beautifully restored art deco hotel with very tasteful quality furnishings and excellent European like service. As in most restored old hotels, the rooms are quite small, but well appointed and immaculately clean. The price is reasonable compared to sister hotels on Ocean Ave and much better quality.
You are only a few blocks from the beach, the Jackie Gleason Theater, the New World Symphony and the famous Lincoln Rd Mall.
South Beach is chaotic with great energy, but this hotel is tucked away where one can escape for some peace and serenity.
Well worth a look

Stayed @ Cadet with two other couples for 5 nights around New Year's Eve. Loved the location -- one block from the beach and many famous hotel (Delano, Ritz). Whereas other major hotel properties were charging $700+/night, Cadet gave us a good rate of ~$200/night which gave us plenty of saved cash to use at the best restaurants, clubs, and pools in Miami. Staff was extremely friendly with great attention to detail (notes left on bed, chocolates, small vase, etc.). Very cosy restaurant and hot tub area. Would definitely stay here again!

Room Tip: Our room as on the 17th street side and was got a fair amount of road noise.

Another pleasant stay at the Cadet Hotel. Professional staff and clean rooms. Given the location to the beach, the price remains its best selling point. The owners of the hotel appear now and again in the hotel, and for reasons unknown, somewhat humorless. I don't recall them ever engaging with the guests. The only let down was, again, not being recognized as a returning guest. On arriving at the hotel we were asked 'how can we help you?' instead of 'welcome back.' If they can work on that, they are good to go.

I stayed here with my wife for a weekend and we really enjoyed our stay. The rooms were lovely, the service outstanding and we were given a complimentary golf cart ride in lincoln road by a lovely gentleman. Overall I would highly recomend this hotel.

We booked the Cadet Hotel for its proximity to the Art Deco area of Miami. It was also a stone's throw from the beach and boardwalk. The rooms are on the small size but very tastefully furnished as is the foyer, bar and outdoor dining area. The staff were very helpful and we were lucky enough to get an early check-in and extended check- out to fit in with our transport arrangements. We opted to pay for the breakfasts and enjoyed both the cooked and healthy choice menus on offer. Overall, our stay was very pleasant although there seemed to be a problem with accessing hot water for a shower later in the evening.

Room Tip: Try for a room not facing the road as there seemed to be a lot of construction work going on in the...

Bottom line: Would I stay here at the Cadet Hotel again - yes I would!

Pros: Close to Lincoln Ave and the Beaches, nice clean hotel, great staff, beautiful bedrooms

Cons (in the Hotels control) - 1) The Doors to each room don't quite slam shut but when someone around you enters/leaves their room, you will definitely hear the door close/slam. The Hotel needs to have the doors close softly/gently similar to a Hotel. 2) The room I stayed in , the bathroom needed a paint job. You could also tell the tub was reglazed once and is in need of a reglaze. The grout in the shower stall, where the 2 walls meet, needed to be re-grouted as it was dirty/grimy (probably could not be cleaned at this pt. ) 3) The staff, when they were walking up and down the corridors could be much more quiet. There is no need to have their walkie talkies on full blast or talking loudly - especially on a Sunday AM!!

Other things: 1) To change the a/c, you do need to call the front desk. I did this and they were up in approx 5 min 2) there is some construction nearby which adds to the noise - it does look like the construction on one building is nearly done. 3) You are in the middle of things when staying at the Cadet! On a Fri/Sat night, you will undoubtedly heae people - especially at bar closing time.

Dear Guest,

We will like to thank you for staying with us and taking your time to review us.

It is always great to hear that our guest that visits us for the first time would like to return.

We understand that the noise from our doors might have caused a distress in your stay. Unfortunately this is an issue that is out of our hands. By code the City of Miami Beach Fire Department requires that the guest’s door close by themselves once the guest exists the room.

All of our bathrooms were built using gray grout, not white. We understand that this may not be of your liking, but this is based on taste. All of the bathrooms in the hotel all fully tiled therefore, they are not painted.

We apologize if the noise from our employees disturbed you in the morning, we will make sure to advise them so this won’t happen in the future.

It was a pleasure to have you stay with us!

Warm Regards,

Manager on Duty.
