I enjoyed my stay. My Jr. suite was excellent and well maintained. The maintenance staff cleaned and replenish finished supplies as needed. It did take some time to get finished products but overall the service was great.

Room Tip: The higher floor rooms are quiet and sunny

The pictures on the website are a total false! These are personally owned condo's who the owner then leases to the hotel to rent as they need. No 2 rooms are the same. We switched rooms 3 times. The service was horrible. We stayed for a bridal party getting ready to leave to the wedding. It was raining that day & water was leaking from the windows. The AC wasnt working & we had to call the front desk on several occasions to get someone to just bring in a fan. The rooms smell moldy & humid as well. I would not recommened this hotel for anyone to stay in at all. The rooms are outdated and the hotel itself is not very well kept.

Room Tip: The photos in the website are for suites that cost $700+ a night!

The Alexander Hotel exceeded my expectations & that of my family as well. I decided to plan my cousin's 30th birthday in Miami & instead of staying in SoBe, I decided on a beach front resort close enough to the action, but far enough for relaxation quality. It was the best decision I ever made. The team runs a great establishment and I look forward to future trips.
Upon entering the hotel, it is very 'victorian' with auto-open french wooden doors, a spiral staircase and that "old money" feel. Very classy, very tasteful.

The hotel staff are very accommodating and friendly. There are 2 pools with a waterfall, a pool-bar with an early happy hour (starts at 1 pm :-). For those younger folks who want to party in SoBe and return to peace, quiet and old school luxury.. this hotel is for you. We stayed in a deluxe suite and each of us had our own bed. Very lovely mini-vacation indeed!

Got a good deal from Expedia but the room was a total dump. Towels by pool were torn, shabby and actually had large holes in them.

Asked for a bellman to take down my luggage- was told five minutes and 30 minutes later, took it all down myself. On positive side, the car valet guys were terrific and wait-staff at
the poolside bar were excellent.

Room Tip: Discount websites may offer a good price but only for the oldest rooms.

Great room, excellent ocean view, and freindly staff!
We ended up staying at the resort for our entire stay- very private and great beach access.
The pools and Tiki Bar (Top of the Falls) were just right for creating the relaxing enviroment we sought during the days, and Shula's Steakhouse was a great place to top off a perfect evening.
Great amenities, service, and quality- we will be back! Sooner than later I hope!

Nice lobby, pool and beach okay as well. Those are the best parts of the hotel.....
Once out of the elevators and into the hallways upstairs, there was a smell of old sneakers present and I felt transported back to the early 80's.
We had a two bedroom unit and will admit that the full kitchen was done very nicely, recently renovated with granite countertops. The rest of the unit was quite dated and the couch in the main room smelt like a dog had slept on it. Carpets in the unit were old and dingy and the electrical outlets were "loose" and the plugs from our hairdryers and phone chargers kept falling out. Bathrooms had good water pressure and were clean but basic.
Staff were on the whole helpful and pleasant from what i encountered at the pool, frontdesk and housekeeping.
This hotel is really a condo where some of the unit owners rent out their place and let the hotel manage it- so I guess it is really the luck-of-the-draw if you get a well maintained/decorated unit or not.
One thing that did bother me was the lack of security protocol followed by the front desk. Three times people in our party had to get new magnetic card keys since they stopped working. The front desk staff only inquired about the room number before freely handing us a new key. Not one of us was asked for our names or the name of the person who reserved the room, or any other proof we were hotel guests. This left me with an uneasy feeling.
I think there are much more comfortable hotel to stay at in this price range when in Miami Beach and will look elsewhere next time.

Room Tip: Go back down to the frontdesk and request to change rooms if you are not satisfied.

We rented an owner suite and from the minute we got there the suite we confirmed and paid for was not available because the previous renters had not evacuated the room and were on a cruise and had not notified the hotel of their extended stay. We had to move into another room that smelled and were unable to unpack or settle in because we were waiting for it to all be figured out. A waste of a day! The following day we wasted all morning trying to get a resolution and were finally able to move our things over to the suite we had rented. The suite didn't accomodate 6 people as was initially confirmed and so they had to bring in 2 cots that they repeatedly try to charge me for. The manager in charge of owner suites never showed her face to us or called us after our repeated complaints, not even to ensure we were finally satisfied with everything. The hotel management had an "I don't care attitude" and do not want to be very helpful when owner suites are concerned, a bad reflection to the hotel as a whole. Something management should really consider changing for their own good. The pools were disgustingly dirty throughout. Areas are not hosed down and there are sandy, muddy puddles throughout the poolside. Disgusting! Very poor service in picking up empty cups and garbage. Flies all over the hot tubs circling your head...yuk! Pool/Towel guy never around when I went there for towels. Poor towel replenishment, and towels are old, faded and frayed. Some people check out towels by completeing forms, others don't . No organized system whatsover. Pool waters appears foggy all the time, and the tiles are dirty and concrete rusty. Lounge chairs also dirty! Hotel definitely needs a renovation. About the only good service we got was from the car valet service. Room rate was inexpensive, but no excuse for the filth. I guess at the end of the day, you get what you pay for. Disappointed with the entire stay, and will not be back. The suite owner from NY was responsive to our needs, and refunded us one day for our loss of time, which we were grateful for, but mislead us about the accomodations and how many people it could sleep comfortably. I will try elsewhere next time when in MB!
