Recommended length of visit: 1-2 hours
Owner description: Our professional airboat guides will take you on a personalized, educational airboat tour covering approximately 9 miles of this unique environment. We first go into the vast open saw grass where you will see why the Everglades are called the "River of Grass"! You will travel by Airboat through a Hardwood Hammock (a small island of solid ground in the "river of grass"), into the Everglades National Park stopping at alligator holes and seeing the abundance of 'glades wildlife. See the Purple Gallanule voted the most colorful bird in Florida and the endangered Everglade Snail Kite as well as herons, grackles, turtles, raccoons and other Everglades residents! The Everglades are a truly unique and vibrant environment which you can only experience first hand! Unless you brought your hip waders, a private airboat tour is the best way to see it! (And much drier, too!) After this fascinating and educational airboat tour, relax and enjoy a taste of 'Down Home' cooking, Everglades-style. The Coopertown Restaurant offers such delicacies as frog legs, 'gator tail, catfish and more! All served in a friendly country manner that is distinctly "Floridian". "Belly up" to the bar and meet the folks of Coopertown! Learn some of the fascinating history of the area, and check out the guest book to see who else has passed through and enjoyed a ride on a Coopertown Airboat! Take a closer look at these fascinating creatures in our Alligator Exhibit! What a cute little guy! Popular enough to have a college mascot named for it! A ride on an airboat is the best way to Check out the rest of the gator population in Coopertown

I have been to Coopertown many times & absolutely love it! I have taken several of my family and friends when I go & they always leave amazed. The small hometown atmosphere is very welcoming & the tour guides are very knowledgeable about the Everglades! i highly recommend it & actually have another trip planned in November!

“Miami natives come back home... had a blast!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 6, 2013

My family and I grew up near Coopertown and had went many times before moving when I was a teenager. We went back to take my husband on his first airboat ride. We had a great time. We saw so many gators and other wildlife. Alan is one of the best tour guides ever and was wonderfully knowledgeable. It is very rustic, but true to the origins of the original Coopertown. The food is fantastic but if you are looking for fine dining, go else where.

“Cooperstown Air Boat Ride”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 4, 2013

Always wanted to see the Everglades and experience an air boat ride. Brilliant experience from the talk beforehand on alligators and snakes found in the Everglades to the boat ride itself. Tour guide was knowledgeable and able to answer all questions put to him. Didn't try the food, the 'cafe' didn't exactly inspire - toilets and cafe had a rustic charm about them that fitted in well with an outback theme but could see how some tourists could be put off. Would recommend Coopertown. It was also relatively cheap at 20 dollars (use coupons available everywhere) so real value for money compared to the inflated cost of some trips in USA. Would recommend.

“What a blast!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 26, 2013

We thoroughly enjoyed our trip on the Coopertown airboat. Didn't give it five stars because it is a bit rundown, but my husband claimed that's what gave it its charm. We were the only passengers on our trip, and our guide Robert was wonderful. Very knowledgeable and willing to share. He knew how to get the gators to come closer to our boat, and our five year old grandson was fascinated by them. We saw a couple of herons as well. He was scared of the little gator he was asked to hold at the end of the trip, but got up enough courage to pet it while I held it. It was interesting to see the big gators in their ponds, and wish we could have hung around long enough to see them come up for air. Great views, great fun! We also tried the restaurant, and again, while it wasn't much to write home about, the service was good and the food was interesting. Hubby tried the sampler combo of gator bites and frog legs, and was happy with them. My chicken sandwich, while breaded, was huge and quite tasty. The five year old's grilled cheese sandwich wasn't toasted very much, but he ate every bite and was thrilled that it came with potato chips. All in all, a good time was had by all!

“Couldn't have been better!”

Absolutely fantastic experience - took a chance and booked this trip from London - no regrets whatsoever - couldn't have been better - loved the location, the guide, the cafe, the experience and enthusiasm of the folks running the place - wonderful - highly recommended - refreshingly homely after so many "plastic" experiences are on offer - you won't be disappointed - and very good price too... thank you so much everyone for a lovely time - we visited in September 2012 by the way..
