Owner description: Our professional airboat guides will take you on a personalized, educational airboat tour covering approximately 9 miles of this unique environment. We first go into the vast open saw grass where you will see why the Everglades are called the "River of Grass"! You will travel by Airboat through a Hardwood Hammock (a small island of solid ground in the "river of grass"), into the Everglades National Park stopping at alligator holes and seeing the abundance of 'glades wildlife. See the Purple Gallanule voted the most colorful bird in Florida and the endangered Everglade Snail Kite as well as herons, grackles, turtles, raccoons and other Everglades residents! The Everglades are a truly unique and vibrant environment which you can only experience first hand! Unless you brought your hip waders, a private airboat tour is the best way to see it! (And much drier, too!) After this fascinating and educational airboat tour, relax and enjoy a taste of 'Down Home' cooking, Everglades-style. The Coopertown Restaurant offers such delicacies as frog legs, 'gator tail, catfish and more! All served in a friendly country manner that is distinctly "Floridian". "Belly up" to the bar and meet the folks of Coopertown! Learn some of the fascinating history of the area, and check out the guest book to see who else has passed through and enjoyed a ride on a Coopertown Airboat! Take a closer look at these fascinating creatures in our Alligator Exhibit! What a cute little guy! Popular enough to have a college mascot named for it! A ride on an airboat is the best way to Check out the rest of the gator population in Coopertown

“not what I was looking for”

When I booked the tour I was hoping to rip around the everglades in a perpetual drift hanging on for dear life all the while gripping my GoPro desperately trying to secure the footage I desired. What I got was an eco tour of a swamp. I need to be 30 years older to appreciate that tour.

“Very fun time!”
Reviewed February 14, 2013

We were looking for a place to take my sister-in-law on an airboat and decided on Coopertown. When we got there we discovered we had gone there several years ago with a friend. The trip was just as enjoyable this time. Our guide was very knowledgeable and funny. We saw a bunch of alligators and, more importantly, several purple galinules. I would go back again (and might when we have other guests).

“So FUN!”
Reviewed February 13, 2013

We wanted to experience an Airboat Tour on our Everglades visit and researched a few but didn't reserve until we got there and good thing! Someone recommended this company/tour to us and it cost almost half of what others were charging!

Since it is Feb and is dry/cool, we weren't looking to see tons of gators but didn't need to since we saw so many in the Anhinga Trail - but learned so much on this tour - and the guide was super entertaining, he truly seemed to enjoy his job and made it fun for all of us.

The boat seated 12+ of us and spun around, he let us out and feel the water and muck (but now I can say I stood in the water at the Everglades!), the place also housed couple of alligators and let us hold a baby one for photo op.

Well worth it, and if you grab a coupon book, there are $2 off to make it an even $20 per person - can't beat that price when competition charges $46 per person!

Passed this on US 41 on the way to the Everglades National Park (Shark Valley), and decided to see what it was like. Very, very good is the answer! There were about 10 people on the airboat, the one hour tour started off at speed skimming over the saw grass and water, with spinning turns included. Then proceeded to the educational part of the tour, stopping at various points and looking for wildlife - plants, gators, birds, turtles, of which there were an abundance. Very knowledgeable guide, who made it all extremely interesting. When the airboat got back to "base" you could have your photo taken holding a baby alligator, but I declined that part.
Highly recommended, a bargain at $22 per person.
