We stayed 2 nights at the Courtyard Marriott Downtown/Brickell on Feb 13-15/14. Orginally we planned to stay only 1 night at the hotel but 4 weeks prior decided to stay an extra night and made the reservation for the additional night. Upon check in it was explained that we would be staying 2 nights and check in staff given 2 reservation numbers. ......all seemed simple and credit card was taken for payment coverage. At 11 am the next morning, we received a phone call from the front desk that we would have to vacate room/ check out as the hotel had no vacancy that night and they needed to clean room. I reminded staff on phone that we had a 2 night stay and that staff upon check in understood this and assured us we would be in same room. When they examine file they say yes indeed it was overlooked and we could stay the night in another room and that we had to physically check out and then check back in.....supplying credit card again. While trying to work the situation out over the phone, the house keeping manager knock on the door and told us we had to leave room ASAP as they had to clean it for arriving clients. After a 5 minute phone conversation and things seemingly not being understood I had to leave my room and go to front desk with my credit card and check out and check back into SAME room...Yes same room....I would not believe it if someone told me but it happened to me!!! Stafff were very freindly but did not see the problem with me having to physically check out and back in at front desk at 1115 am in my pjs. The hotel manager is amazing and has the people skills to deal with problems......a plus for MARRIOTT.
Hotel was clean but definitely over priced. We were lucky to get a room away from constuction but other clients complained of the noice and found it disturbing.
Reward promotion: My Partner was a new rewards members and thus we used his rewards number to get benfit of the stay 2 night get one night free promotion......however after staying it was impossible for the rewards center to give us the rewward offered. I called several times about the matter and the reward off could not be applied/received..despite the cliam made on check in and assurrrance. The reward center was impossible to deal with and was road block after road block ( As blog online stated that it was near impossible to recieve the reward and the reward center offer was a sham.) While 2 service people seemingly tried to apply the reward nothing could be done.....the trird attempt at receiving the reward resulted in verbal abuse from the male and got very heated. He was verbally insulting and attached my character. He was loud, abnoxious and questioned why I would want the reward applied to my same sex partner's reward number..His tone was degrading and I felt belittled by the interaction. HE kept me on the phone for 55 minutes, the majority of the time was on hold as he refused to let me speak to someone else.
