Regency Hotel Miami
Ranked #39 of 127 Hotels in Miami
Reviewed January 9, 2013

We recently ended up having to spend the night in Miami due to a missed connection due to mechanical problems. The airlines sent us to The Regency.
By the time we waited in line to get our reservations we were tired and had missed supper. Nothing was open in the airport or the hotel. We just wanted to get some sleep so we could get up early and be back at the airport. We just took whatever lodging they gave us.
We were told the hotel shuttle made its rounds every 15-20 minutes, so just go outside and wait. Well, after waiting for awhile and no one showed, we decided to call the hotel. They said they only come to the airport when called this time of night. They were johnny on the spot when we called, tho. The shuttle driver was very friendly and it took only 3 minutes to get to thehotel.
Upon arriving at the hotel the front desk clerk was prompt and put us on an upper floor that would be quieter. The lobby was nicely decorated for Christmas. When we went to get on the elevator there was soup or something spilled all over it and very difficult to get in and stand without standing in it. Gross!!! 2 gals standing there said it had been there all evening.
The room was quiet and the beds were comfy. Only woke up once to a slamming door odwn the hall. It was a bit dated and the carpet worn by the bathroom door and not real clean. The sliding door goes out to a small balcony but not much of a view. Good enough for one night.
The morning buffet was quite tasty. The hotel honored our dinner and breakfast vouchers so we did not have to pay anything, since we were unable to use them the night before.
The return airport shuttle was prompt and quite full.
Don't know what the regular cost is so don't know if it would be worth it to stay longer.

This hotel does not know what flexiibility or service means. We arrived early in the afternoon and the guy at the desk straight away pointed at the sign that checking in starts at 3pm without even looking if our room (or any other room) was ready. Checking in is at 3 and not a minute earlier was the message. We asked again if he could at least have a look if anything would be available earlier but the answer was no.

After we finally got our room after hours of waiting, the floor they put us on was being refurbished and so it was very noisy, even at night. The carpets in the hallway were being renewed and it was basically a mess.

The room looks alright at first but was also disappointing. The bed had bugs in it, it was noisy (next to a generator) and the air conditioning you can't really use when you are in the room as it points right on the bed (you can't adjust this).

Eventhough checking in is not possible before 3pm, at 8.30 am housekeeping was knocking on the door. We told her that we were still in the room, yet 15 minutes later she knocked again.

I would never stay here again and would not recommend it to anyone. It is overpriced considering the rooms and the lack of service.

We have had much better experiences in TWO star hotels!

We are disappointed to read about your experience in your stay with us and I would like to contact you directly to talk about some of the information that you pointed out.

We do give rooms before 3:00 pm if we have availability and we do charge for early check in, only if you come before 10:00 am, after that time you can check in with no charge, but sometimes we do not have rooms available and you will need to wait until check in time at 3:00 pm; that was the case of that specific day, because we were doing a carpet renovation in the hallway, in order to have a better presentation for our guests.

We do not have any reports regarding insects of any type in our rooms, we have been claimed on regular basics as a very clean hotel and I would love to have a detailed conversation with you regarding this statement and the housekeeping knocking on the door before 11:00 am that is the check out time.

Please understand that I'm not trying to discredit your statement, but since it is based on so many issues that are not common to our daily operation, I feel the need to make a complete investigation of this case.

Please feel free to contact me at josemiguel@regencyhotelmiami.com at your convenience.

This hotel is 9 min from dowtown miami. Near this hotel you can find: Catch of the day, across the street a Sabor Latino and a Latin American restaurant. Also in walking distantie you Will find a shopping plaza witch includes Kmart, Party City, Taco Bell, Mc Donalds and KFC.

Room Tip: Ask for a room facing the airport.

After a flight cancellation out of Miami, the airlines placed my wife and I at the Regency just a few minutes from the airport. The hotel accommodations were very good, clean and very good service. We dined at the restaurant and had a fantastic experience with both the quality of the food and the service received. We were served by a hispanic gentleman is his mid 40's with a bit of greyish hair and had the most outstanding and pleasant service we have experienced in a very long time, good customer service is alive and well at this hotel.

Stay here it's not terrible. But seemed overpriced considering the rooms. The shuttle was what really made me dislike this place--it comes only every 30 mins. and is slow. The room was small, staff just ok (not particularly nice or rude). Air in the room was either freezing and blowing right onto the bed or stuffy. Next time I have a lay over at MIA I'll stay at the hotel right at the airport. Not worth it to have to wait 30 mins to save a few bucks.

The rooms were clean, Not fancy and the price is fair. The service was really really bad though. There was no coffee pot in my room and when i asked for one they said they would bring one up twice and never showed up. I had to go looking for one. IOur room did not have any wash cloths.
The service in the dining room is really slow both in the evening and the morning. The front desk people were confused all the time.
They do have a shuttle that comes by the airport every 1/2 hour so that was nice. The next day for $10 each we could take their shuttle to the cruise ship but we chose to rent an taxi for $25 since there was 4 of us.
would i stay there again? Maybe if i did not need anything but a bed to sleep in.
