Our time here for a 1 night stay was very orgainized, clean and in a nice area to see bayside mall area and near the arena if you were going to a game. Very close and easy access to the port of Miami as well as airport. Would stay again for sure.

Hotel was nice. amenities a bit aged but adequate. Parking is very expensive. Pool was fabulous. Drinks at the pool very over priced. This location could not be categorized as a bargin. Water activities very convenient (Charter fishing, jet ski etc)Meeting facilities are nice.

The nicest part of this hotel was the lobby. It seemed so exclusive when we had to use our key to get to our floor. Walked into the junior suite which was supposed to have a separate living area. It was separate but not by a wall- just a few more feet from the bed in a normal room. The hallways were dark and worn- dirty carpets in hallway and in the rooms. Really tired looking. Our "park view" room looked at a patch of grass from a neighbor's yard BUT directly below our balcony was the dock and loading area. Complete with all the noise that comes with. Killed a roach in my room. Would not recommend to anyone.

This is not the Conrad or Ritz Carlton, and it's not intended to be. But it is very comfortable, it is very well-located right near but not in the middle of downtown and an easy drive or bike ride to South Beach, it's right on the water (not a beach, a marina), next to a park with tennis courts, and it has an excellent gym. The building that the Doubletree Grand is in (which is a multi-use building that includes residences) includes 5 restaurants, a market, rental cars, tourist assistance and a very capable concierge service. There is valet parking that's a little pricey, but there is also a less expensive garage right across the street. The pool area is excellent, with a very large pool and one of the biggest jacuzzis I've ever seen.

Room Tip: All the rooms have water views, but the Bay Front rooms face the marina and have the best views. Th...

Unlike many of the people who have reviewed this hotel, my wife and I were not here for a cruise connection or a wedding, we chose this hotel for a 4-night extended-weekend kids-free spring break. We had started out looking at hotels on the beach and couldn't bring ourselves to spend $500 a night. We also wanted to do more than just lie in the sun and we're too old for the hard partying on the strip. We decided that we could take lots of cabs with the money saved at Doubletree and yet still have a waterfront room (marina). We also discovered that the Doubletree has a deal with the Bentley Hilton at South Beach - for $50/day you get two chaise lounges with a big umbrella and towels on the beach, with beach butler service.

The check-in experience was fine but this hotel doesn't have a true lobby, gift shop etc if that's important to you. It shares a small mall with the Marriott (which does have a lobby and its own restaurants and gift shop) next door. There are several restaurants in the mall. One shop has convenience store items but because this area is very residential and no real competition, the prices are a bit higher. We had no problem finding great food to eat, newspapers, coffee, etc. There's a place called Pura Vida where we had great smoothies each morning. Expensive but very good stuff in them.

Our room overlooked the marina and had a great balcony for hanging out on watching the boats come and go and watching the drawbridge go up and down and the cruise ships heading out to the Caribbean or wherever. The furnishings etc are not the newest but not at all depressing, either, definitely a 4-out-of-5 experience. We were quite comfortable. The pool is EXCELLENT - really nice sized for a hotel like this, plenty of chaise lounges, and a poolside bar and grill. We went there a couple of times. It dwarfs the tiny pool at Marriott next door.

The restaurants: we ate dinners or dinner-ish late lunches at Primo's (excellent), Casablanca's (good-very good), The Catch (at Marriott - excellent) and NoVe across the street (excellent and less expensive with good wine selection). Seemingly all of these places had great happy hours for un-snobby wine drinkers where you get two glasses of wine for the price of one before 7pm.

The area seemed pretty safe - a lot of high-rise residential buildings in the area. Not very touristy outside the mall part, which you share with a lot of condo residents. There's a small park next door that's good for a pleasant walk but I probably wouldn't go there after dark.

Room Tip: If you're in Hilton Honors try to get the 7th floor.

Very impressed! We came here for a wedding and ended up extremely satisfied. The view is breathtaking and customer service was great! And, the hotel was CLEAN! Will definitely stay here if the opportunity prevails again! Daily valet charge is a bit much.
