“Great Location and the view of the bay”
Reviewed October 30, 2013

As a gold member, I was upgraded to a condo with balcony facing the bay. Loved the view and the accommodation. The location is really great. Publix is a walking distance so we can cook or buy some cooked food to save while on vacation.

The attempt to convert condos into massive suites is a failure. The renovation appears to have been rushed, leaving and overall shoddy finish and poor workmanship everywhere one looks. The view is amazing, as long as you're not bothered by the outward sloping floor that threatens the cast you off the balcony. The furniture appears to be third- or fourth-hand cast offs. I will never stay at this hotel again, and possibly not even another DoubleTree.

My recent business trip to Miami Florida was enhanced by staying at the DoubleTree. Thank you for bringing the "midwestern" hospitality to Southern Florida. The staff were wonderful and welcoming after a long day traveling. The room had been upgraded to a beautiful view of the bay. Every morning, it was like waking up in paradise. I live in an area of the US that was once called "the Great American Desert". You can imagine my delight to waking up by the sea. Thank you for your hospitality and travel experience.

Stayed here over Labor Day weekend for three nights. Great waterfront location, walking distance to the American Airlines Arena and an upscale shopping mall, a short drive to South Beach. The hotel rooms occupy floors 6-10; the lower floors are offices and the upper floors are condominiums, so you'll end up somewhere in the middle. Our room had a partial view of the bay. Great pool and hot tub area. If you look over the fence/hedge you can see the Marriott's pool area next door and you'll agree that the Doubletree's is nicer. There are restaurants and shops in the lobby area. There is no self parking, and I didn't notice any street parking nearby, so factor that into your budget. My only minor complaint is that the pool towels were never replaced in our room after the first day, and the coffee supplies were never completely restocked. I have already booked this hotel again for New Year's.

Stayed at this property for one night pre-cruise (October 18, 2013). Our rate was $139.00 plus tax ($157.07) for the night.

Room -

The room was fine. I found it to be a large room for an urban city hotel. The bed was extremely comfortable, such that I did not want to get out of bed in the morning! The bathroom itself was well-appointed (very nice tub) and it had a separate area with a sink, so two people could easily get ready at the same time. I like that. Our room had a balcony with a great view of the bay. The shower water temperature got very hot, which I love, but the air conditioner seemed to have trouble making the room very cold. It worked, but it did not work as well as I would have liked.

Service -

Service was fine. I was assisted by two front-desk agents (one was in training). They were both friendly, provided me with freshly baked cookies, and let me know right away that parking was $29.00 per day. Large urban city hotels charge rates like this to park. I do not like it, but you come to expect it nowadays.

Hotel Information -

Interior hallways and a small chaotic lobby. Internet access is $9.95 per day and it worked very well. The hotel is very tall, but the actual hotel rooms only go up to about the 9th floor or so (do not quote me on the exact floor). The rest of the floors are dedicated to residences. The parking entrance was also chaotic - lots of cars, people, etc.

Area near Hotel -

The hotel sits in a safe area of downtown Miami, next to a Marriott Hotel and not far from PortMiami, American Airlines Arena, Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts of Miami-Dade County, eateries, and a Publix Supermarket.

Overall, my stay here was fine. I would consider staying here again if the rate was right and my travels bring me back to downtown Miami.

Room Tip: Ask for a room the faces the bay.

Room wasn't ready when we arrived so cases were stored for us until we came back . Our room was on the 7th floor room number 751 great room twin balconies excellent view. Bed was very comfortable and the linen was good quality we slept like logs - large tv , coffee and tea making facilities . Large bathroom with a spa bath which I felt was smaller than ones at home. No free Wi fi in rooms but on level RG there are computers and printers which are free to use and make checking in for the aiport very easy.

Room cleaning could of been better coffee table still had ring marks on them from the previous night when we had food in our room. Chipped tile on the balcony but not the end of the world .

Pool area was great and four spas pools opened until 12.00 a,m,

Location very close to the bus station and the free metro mover even at night you could easily
get to Bayside Another thing I should mention i'ts sometimes on the flight path thought it would bother us but it didn't

Room Tip: Corner Suites are great

Stayed here for a week at the send of September 2013. Staff is very friendly. free internet in the lobby and conference rooms (would be great if there was free internet in the rooms as well). Location is ideal - quiet and at the same time very close to the metromover station and good bus and taxi services right outside the hotel. There is a convenience store also located very close by (just a 5 minute walk). Great hotel for people taking a cruise from Miami terminal. Going to south beach is also very easy as there is a bus service a few minutes walking down the road.
Hotel itself is very clean hygienic. Well maintained. Pool and Jacuzzi areas are well maintained.
I would definitely recommend this hotel to my friends and family.

Room Tip: Take the rooms facing back towards the sea face. This way you get a good view and in the evening a g...
