We stayed at the Hyatt Regency Miami for four days during the superbowl 2010. As soon as we got there the staff were fantastic - we needed an extra roll out bed and they immediately brought us one, they gave us extra green tea bags, chocolates etc. The only downside is that the hotel is a little 1970s decore, the fold out bed was pretty uncomfortable, but if you don't need one the bed was fantastic. There wasnt much around the hotel but it was very easy to catch taxis around. South beach was about a 20 minute drive so if you want to go there everyday then stay a bit closer. The hotel pool was okay, a little on the old side and noisy because its in downtown, and small. Free gym use which was a thumbs up for the boys. Nice hotel buffet breakfast, but not much choice. Overall a nice choice, and a good price!

We got this room using Hyatt Points, so I won't comment much on the price other than to say I wouldn't pay more than about $75 a night to stay here. Definitely no more than 3.5 star hotel.

GOOD:
- Staff let us check in 2 hours early and had our requested room type available.
- Front desk staff very helpful with directions, faxing, etc.
- Location is OK, I guess depending on what you are there for. It was a decent 5 minute walk to the bay. No particularly impressive views to be had in this hotel from what I could see. Taxi to the cruise port was $9.75 on a Saturday morning meter and very quickly and easily called from valet.
- Bed had down comforter and was very comfortable.
- Nice sized flat screen TV.
- Nice working desk.
- Overall hotel has a modern feel.

BAD
- Breakfast prices are ridiculous. About $15 for any of the items in the restaurant. Thinking that was crazy, we ordered from the cafe and found that a large Starbucks was $3.75 and a bagel w/ cream cheese was $3.50.
- Not enough elevators and still malfunctioning after visit 2 years ago (lights randomly flash, cards not accepted, etc, etc.).
- Asked for a quiet room on a Friday night when the hotel shouldn't be too full and they put us in a room right next to a couple with 3 young boys who ran, screamed, and banged on every surface area. The connecting room doors have huge gaps and must be hollow because they block no sound.
- Weird bathroom set-up where the sink is outside a small little room holding the shower and toilet. Bathroom hasn't been remodeled and really old. Drain hanging out onto tub floor, weak shower head. Just not great.
- Bar staff took 15 minutes to serve us drinks even though it was not full and many were just standing around chatting.

We got a great deal with our points, but this place just wasn't awesome. Frankly, for a cruise the next day, I will probably just spend the same money on trip insurance and fly out the morning of.

Nice staff and valet parking. Hotel needs major up dating, rooms very stuffy no fresh air, outside of windows so dirty and stained could hardy see out.

We recently stayed at the Miami Hyatt Regency hotel. I chose the hotel due to its proximity to the Port of Miami. Our flight was delayed which put us checking into the hotel at 11:00 PM. Unfortunately, by the time we were checked in and put our bags in our room, the hotel bar/grill had closed. They also closed room service. We had to order a pizza that took one hour to be delivered. The hotel beds were good and rooms were okay but I felt that a hotel in downtown Miami would have more options for late night food.
