“Great out of the way spot”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 23, 2013

We decided to forgo the south beach business after our cruise. Found this place and am so glad we stayed here. No beach but a jogging track around the perimeter. Big room which was lovely. Needed a big space after small cruise bedroom. Yes the decor especially in the bath could use an and update but it was still quite nice and clean. Staff was very helpful, especially Jesus. I wanted a cab to take me shopping and he said it would take a while. However, there was an employee named Melissa who was right outside and he said she would be happy to drop me off. Well Melissa is a lovely young lady from Equador and we had a nice time chatting and kindly dropped me off at a supermarket ten minutes away. She also adamantly refused any kind of reimbursement. Thank you Melissa, you are very kind. Servers and bar staff great. Wonderful service in a quiet and quite pretty location.

Room Tip: We stayed in 204. Beautiful view

We were extremely pleased with our experience at the Grove Isle Hotel. The room we had (least
expensive) had a fantastic view of Marina and Key Biscayne. The decor and furnishings were
very nice including tile floors, especially tile in bathroom wiith marble shower and granite counter.
There are dimmer light switches throughout and even a phone in bathroom. The bed was very
comfortable. The A/C worked very well and not too loud with nice controls on the wall. Two double
glass french doors lead out to large balcony with very comfortalble furnishings there also. Our
room was extremely quiet even being directly across elevator. The lobby and restaurant are beautiful with quality throughout. All the staff were extremely helpful and met our every need.
The lush tropical grounds were beautiful right on the water everywhere you are. Great walking/jogging path right off water with playground for kids also. There are also four lighted tennis courts and spa. Loved this place and will definately stay here again when in area and highly recommend! Oh, also right in the heart of beautiful Coconut Grove with plenty of other restaurants and shopping to enjoy just a short drive away. Loved this place and will definately
stay here again if they still have the Florida Resident Rate Special!!

Room Tip: We had the least room and it was excellent in every way including a fantastic view of Key Biscayne...

The location is on a private, gated isle about 1.5 miles from downtown Coco Beach. The good points end there. The entire resort is in dire need of a major renovation and modernization. Do not stay here unless you have a rental car or your own vehicle as you will be stranded or subject to $35 cab rides anywhere you go. Here is a synopsis of the various parts of the "resort":

Room 101 (where we stayed): Water dripping into our bathroom from the rooms above (mold stain on ceiling as well); broken dresser which was Kmart quality; no convenience refrigerator in room as promised; "rain" shower was barely a trickle and 2/6 shower jets were broken; and coffee maker was broken. Room location is next to check-in and valet parking so do not stay in this room as we were constantly bombarded by noise all night long coming from wedding parties, anniversary party and some other gathering that went until 4:00am and management did absolutely nothing to curb the noise around the guest rooms.

Overall Resort: they have no amenities that one would expect from a hotel and spa - no store for sundry items, no ice, no towels in workout room, no onsite concierge. There is a nice track surrounding the resort which was great for walking and jogging, and it was nice to look at the boats in the private marina. If you decide to walk off the isle across the causeway as we did several times, make sure you have your room key with you as the gate folks were fanatical difficult about letting us back onto the isle unless we could prove we were staying at the hotel. One of them actually ran after me.

Management and Staff: Restaurant staff were good; front desk staff were poorly trained, disinterested and lacked a general knowledge of things to do in the area. Valet guys were very busy but friendly and helpful. Maid service was poor - never swept our floor, never gave us replacement shampoo despite our staying there 4 nights, and strictly limited the number of towels we could have.

Restaurant and Bar: Food was good (though was completely different then what was on their online posted menu) but very expensive for what you got. Bar was well-stocked but it was difficult to get served and over-crowded when any of the various parties were going on since management did not sequester them to a private banquet room for cocktails.

Room Tip: Do not book room 101. If you decide to stay here, get a room near the spa as it appeared much quiet...

We got a great rate at the Grove Isle Hotel through Orbitz and although we have never stayed at the hotel before, we were confident that it would be nice since we have been enjoying the restaurant and it's romantic setting for over 12 years, back to when it was Baleens. The Grove Isle doesn't disappoint. Everyone was super nice. Even the valet, who cheerfully brought back our car after I accidentally left the IPads on the back seat. The rooms are clean and the beds are super comfy. We especially enjoyed the balcony overlooking the Bay. Big enough for 2 large, teak chairs, a table and a chaise lounger. Take a bottle of wine, or order one from room service and let the romantic spot work it's magic!

Grove Isle has a great location - surrounded by water and incredibly peaceful surroundings in Miami. It feels away from it all. Another plus is the staff at the hotel, particularly those supporting meetings. They were responsive to our needs. However, rooms-wise, the hotel is simply tired. The furnishings are a bit dated and the A/C was all over the place (incredibly hot, then incredibly cold), which made it difficult to get a good night's sleep. I would also mention that the restaurant was very slow and the choices are relatively limited on the menu. Overall, Grove Isle could be a spectacular hotel, but right now, it's just not there.

This was our 2nd time staying here and it was as good as the first. Ironically we were given the same room as the first time and that was about 3 yrs ago. The service and tranquility is superb!!!! The first time was a birthday surprise and the second was just that we needed some alone time. We so love this place and will definitely be going back.

The Hotel is located on a very small and private island closed to Coconut Grove area. On the island there are only the Grove Isle Hotel & Spa and 3 condo buildings. It is possible to walk around all the island in 40 minutes or less. The small island was far from everything and so the place is very quiet and relaxing. We decided to stay here one night after 4 weeks holidays and before came back home and we really appreciate the place and its atmosphere. It was very romantic!
We booked the bayfront deluxe room and we were very lucky because we were upgrated to the corner suite (it was off season). The staff (at the restaurant and at the reception) was very friendly and helpful. We had dinner and breakfast a la carte at the restaurant. The food was delicious. The presentation of the dishes is also very nice. I think I would come here again. Highly recommended! Sorry if my English is not perfect but I am not English mother tongue.
