“Seafood extraverganza!”
Reviewed January 27, 2013 via mobile

Whether your taking your loved ones or if you go with friends, everything about this place is amazing! The food is great, the service is excellent, the parking is easy, and the price were good. I had the Seagood augtatin which was impeccable. For dessert I had the rice pudding. Wonderful!! While my guests and I were eating, this huge tug boat was passing by towing a HUGE CARGO boat. It look fake that such a large boat could be towed thru the Miami river. Excellent experience and hope to go back soon.

“Beautiful views”
Reviewed January 26, 2013

Casablanca is a Fish restaurant with a Cuban twist,; The seating is along an old fashioned Verandah, where you have great views along the Miami river, a backwater near downtown, full of charm. You eat and drink right next to the waters edge.
The staff are very professional, and the best thing are the Free Oysters, yes free oysters, during happy hour, 4-7pm. We had the best Mojitos and large , unlimited oysters on the terrace, overlooking the river, and the sunset from our seats was wow.
This is a well known fish restaurant, with delicious food.
There is a very clean and well stocked Fish Market next door, open until 8PM. The Yellow tail snapper and the Grouper we bought there were top quality, cleaned for us, packed in ice and very delicious.

“surprisingly excellent”
Reviewed January 24, 2013

We have known about Casablanca for over five years but never had tried it until today because of negative comments from friends and others.Upon arriving, we encountered a friendly valet who parked our car. The hostess inside was friendly and elegantly dressed ,immediately showing us to a Miami Riverfront table. As we were getting comfortable, one of the waiters brought us a generous portion of smoked fish dip that was delicious. We ordered several appitizers of coconut shrimp, sauteed octopus, lobster bisque, ceveche, oysters rockerfeller, and a dinner of grouper steak. The servings were all large and delicious. The price was moderate and relatively low compared to the prices we find elsewhere in Florida . As we were dining, two yachts tied up to the dock next to us coming for dinner. This has become our favorite restaurant in Miami because of the ambience, the food, the service, and the ease of the free valet parking.

“Did the Good Chef leave?? what happened?? where was the fresh fish??”
Reviewed January 23, 2013

After reading the reviews, we were falsely led to believe this was the most wonderful seafood restaurant in the Miami area, with great views and fabulous Fresh seafood!..
Wow...the wonderful view is of an oily canal with a view of ancient rusting boats in the Marina across the way..at least there were no smells that night.

The Lobster bisque was pasty and flavorless and expensive (with no hint of the liqueur that
was supposed to carry the bisque??).....the Calamari appetizer was crispy shoe leather,
with no flavor except for the aioli sauce! yuck..I have never had Calamari that was SO BAD!
Perhaps it had been frozen along with its friends that we experienced next?

My Seafood au Gratin (which the waitress guaranteed contained a FRESH filet of snapper)
had a thick layer of ho hum potatoes as ballast on the bottom, the snapper was decidely frozen at one moment in its history and vastly overcooked, the rubbery calamari (and I won't say out loud what the shape and consistency reminded me of...) the tiniest tasteless scallops, the petite shrimp on top as solid as rubber tires, were all covered in a thick layer of melted cheese goo with a thin pinkish sauce for the "seafood" to swim in....and all with a peculiar taste that turned my stomach...but who am I to complain??? Didn't want to embarrass friends with us, so I picked at the cheese and contents and left most of it for the garbage.

Husband had a filet of fish that also was Guaranteed to be FRESH, but showed its history of living in a freezer...tough and overly salted...and the Broccoli was served right out of the ground
...tough and cold...

Friends ordered the Sea Scallops that evidently went thru the washer and shrank to size "Small!
I've seen smaller, but they came from Cape Cod.

And Prices were not what I would call "cheap" or "reasonable"...they were High!!
So maybe that was why the restaurant was almost empty of clients???
And if it has been "Very Good" at one point in its History, it certainly lacked any stars this eve!!
Disappointment is a mild term....Terrible is a good term....

“good fresh fish and nice view”
Reviewed January 9, 2013

A pleasant restaurant with fresh fish and a nice view of the river if seated outside. The best dishes in my opinion are the whole fried hogfish or the fish parillada, which is enormous for 2 people and it really serves 4. Prices are reasonable, service is good and it also has special days in summer for lobster at All you can eat for a very small price but you have to drop there early to find a table on this date.Highly recommended, informal restaurant.
