Description: Michael’s Genuine Food & Drink is a showcase for the cuisine of Chef/Owner Michael Schwartz, with prices designed to encourage frequent dining. This unpretentious bistro seats 90 indoors and out, with another 14 seats at a handsome bar. Doubling as a casual neighborhood dining spot and a culinary destination, the bright, airy space in Miami’s evolving Design District showcases Schwartz’s trademark new American cuisine at prices designed to encourage frequent dining. Open daily for lunch and dinner, the menu is chock full of choices encouraging everything from a light bite to a multi-course feast. A quick glance at the menu and Michael's intentions for this restaurant are revealed. Notable is the frequency of the word homemade in the descriptions of dishes -- be it pasta, French fries or rabbit terrine. At the same time, Michael's takes advantage of the Chef’s decades-long relationships with winemakers to offer diners the opportunity to try a variety of wines at great value.

Yes-it is pricy
Yes it is an in place.
But is was packed and I do mean packed so they must be doing something right. We were there for lunch (without a reservation) and had to wait a few minters for a table and then we were seated and everyone was as nice as they could be. The food and the service could not have been better. BUT the noise level is another story, I do not think that it is for me. The tables are very close together but that is ok, but it is hard to talk to your friends that you are with. The stores on that street are gorgeous, I could not believe my eyes. I am sure Michael's will do well with it all.

Not only does the food from its ever changing menu taste amazing, its attention to detail is equally impressive. They focus on great food with great ingridients arriving daily from local farmers, fishermen and ranchers, taking in to consideration the growing, harvesting and preparation.

This past weekend I had the pleasure and the surprise of eating one of the most memorable meals of my life... Bar service is great, delicious manhattans. Have traveled a little and have had nice meals(Gramercy Tavern, Nobu's Miami Beach and NYC, London's Savoy, Lima's La Locanda, Chicago's Frontera, etc) This place was fun. Danni the food runner and our waitress Shelly Garelick sealed the deal. Michael's is the place to have dinner when in Miami

I have eaten at Michael's before and continue to believe they do an amazing job. The pork belly with kimchi was a perfect starter and of course we had to have a few deviled eggs. Our waiter was great and had a couple of specials including perfect heirloom tomatoes. A real treat for us at this time of year, we are visiting from Seattle. Many of the guest brought their dogs to enjoy lunch.
The salads are large enough to share so save room for desert.
Worth the trip from the beach and the whole area is changing top end retailer now and more coming.
