“Great architecture / picture opportunity (close to Port of Miami, Bayside, Downtown)”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 23, 2012

Pictures here on Trip Advisor may not do this building justice but if you have a decent camera - this building is a work of art on its own. This building was once home to a former city newspaper. Later this place also served as a processing center for Cuban exiles. Local community leaders have done a great job at restoring this building. I know that the building is sometimes open for special events and projects but the real beauty is on the outside. Its extremely easy to see this building if you are in the Bayside Marketplace area, American Airlines Arena, and the Port of Miami. I recently went with some family to take pictures, tour the area, etc.

“La Torre de la Libertad”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 9, 2012

I was "processed" here as a Cuban refugees in 1962. It used to be the Miami News building a long time before that. Now it belongs to Miami Dade College or the City, not sure, but the building has new life now and they have interesting exhibits and events. It is a part of Miami history and easy to visit, right on Biscayne boulevard. Call ahead and find out what is going on.

“Historical and Educational”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 14, 2012

The Freedom Tower stands proudly in Miami! It is a dedication to the Cuban people who were forced to leave their county and who found freedom and peace in the United States. It is a lovely ediface which reminds us of a difficult period if our history.

“A must see when in town”

the historic tower once used for the cubans that arrive in the '60s, now hosts a museum. Located in the heart of downtown at the entrance of the Port. Good alternative to visit after a cruise
