What a fabulous theatre. The show I went to see was Tommy Emmanuel and Martin Taylor and the sound was excellent. Inside, around the stage was decorated as a baroque/Mediterranean style. The location is good on Flagler Street, with car parks near by. I was in town at 3pm and used a car lot on 2 Street, had something to eat, then went back to move my car before closing at 10pm. There is a garage opposite the lot for $1 per hour after 6pm.No problem walking back to the garage after the show at 11pm.

Thanks for your review of the Olympia Theater. We're glad you enjoyed Tommy Emmanuel and Martin Taylor - what a great night and a fun crowd!

We also offer valet service ($15) across the street at 145 E. Flagler St. - that's the max daily rate so you can arrive early, walk around, grab something to eat, and pick your car up after the show.

Hope to see you again at the Olympia.

Maurice Gusman, the condom king, funded the rennovation of the Old Olympia Theater (now the Gusman Center on Flagler Street downtown) under the watchful eye of architect Morris Lapidus. Built in the 20's the theater is an excellent example of the architecture of the movie palaces of that era....billowing clouds and twinkling stars on the ceiling, a big boy working organ, moorish architecture and perfect sight lines and accoustics.
Over the years the Gusman has hosted everything from ballet to rock n'roll. From Elvis to the Ukranian National Dance; from Barbara Cook to Harry Blackstone.
The Gusman has undergone a second majore rennovation recently....bringing the A/C and electrical/plumbing up to date.
The intimate 1800 seat facility with large lobbies both upstairs and down now serves promoters, civic organizations, charities, city functions and high school graduations.
Any performance at Gusman is memorable.

“Don't miss this little jewel”
Reviewed August 1, 2013

Find any excuse to attend some presentation here. Tucked away in an unassuming downtown corner sits this little theater, built in 1926 as a silent movie palace, it has been beautifully restored and is now a beacon of the South Florida Arts community. You will find presentations from movies, to operas, to concerts, to meetings, pick one and gape at the ceiling :)
