We transferred in Miami both going and coming from Barbados. Going we stopped here to pick up a couple of sandwiches, one Cuban and one midnight (? I think). Both sandwiches were under $10 and HUGE! We totally enjoyed them on our flight to Barbados. Returning, we had a 4 hour layover, so we decided to go the restaurant side of La Carreta...the food is CHEAP...I mean a quarter chicken, rice and beans and plantains for less than $9...you can't beat that! We started to go to TGIFridays, but we are so glad we tried La Carreta!!! Hands down, THE BEST!!!

We had the opportunity to try this restaurant while waiting on a flight to the Caribbean and we loved it! We’ve been to Cuba and we loved the food there so this was a treat for us. We made a beeline to this restaurant after we walked by checking out places to eat in the airport and we made a great choice.

We had the Cuban Black Bean Soup and the Ropa Veija both of which were delicious and filling. Loved hearing the Cuban accents again.

On our return from the Caribbean we headed back to this restaurant for more delicious food. We will definitely return if the opportunity arises.

We traveled on the sky train from gate D-4, 2 stops to get to D-27 and try this restaurant! The Cuban sandwiches were really good! Prices were fair and the service really good! The ONLY complaint is that the waiters kept throwing the plates and making very loud banging noises...So much so that every time they were gathering the dishes almost everyone turned to see where all the commotion was coming from... VERY STRESSFUL! Maybe they were having a bad day but someone should look into it! We already have enough stress making flights and being on time so the additional stress is unwanted! Other than that everything else was very good!!!

La Carreta is a consistently good performer in a world of lousy airport food. While not the best, it has very good Cuban cuisine. Add to that, the service has become notably friendlier over the years, particularly in an airport not known for its cordiality. Even vegetarians can have a good meal by ordering ala carte - a bowl of black beans (you have to ask for them as the beans normally offered have meat in them), yellow rice, steamed veggies and delicious platanos (maduros).

This restaurant is a landmark in miami. I have been seeing it since i have been going to miami

The menu is large an the food is great. A very good place to grab a cuban sandwich or ropa vieja with rice and maduros, while waiting for your plane.
