If you happen to be in concourse D by gate 39, you must eat in La Carreta some awesome Cuban food. The entrance seduces you with the aromas of home cooking food. The eyes are teased by the desert shelf, tres leches, flan, ... Yummo! The food is fresh and taste wonderful. Yes a meal can hit you about $18 bucks but I rather pay that for good food than for same horrible airport food. No McDonalds for me, no way no how in MIA. If case you want something lighter they also have great sandwiches freshly made to order and if you are just inteterested in just a snack and coffe... Well they have an outside bakery and Cuban cafe place where you can endulge. Trust me on this one. You will love it !!

A welcome change from fast food places and overpriced crappy saran wrapped sandwiches. The portions were generous, the food really good and most of all prices were reasonable. Seriously the best airport restaurant I have been to.

Cafeteria style counter where you pick up a plastic tray and choose amongst sandwiches, desserts, soups and main courses. Plenty nice looking meats, either chicken asado, pork, beef, pulled pork and beef, lomo de cerdo... Rice and beans, plantains. Was looking forward to my meal but it was so salty that it spoilt it. My wife's meal was the same. On the plus side it was cheap and the coffee was good. But the food was virtually unedible due to the amount of salt used (and I tend to over salt usually).

Stumbled upon this place while on a recent layover at Miami International Airport. I didn’t want to start the next leg of my journey on an empty stomach and there was no way I was going to pay $8 for an airline boxed lunch. So I set off on finding something decent to eat. After walking what felt like the entire terminal I came across La Carreta. I decide on a Cuban Sandwich and it was to die for. The sandwich was fresh and very tasty. If you are ever in Miami International Airport you need to stop at this place and give the Cuban Sandwich a try, you wont be disappointed.

Great pastries and cortaditos, cafe con leches and coladas. The atmosphere of the airline workers, passengers, employees is gravy on top. Tons of food per serving when eating inside. a very cool place.
