Driving to Marco Island and we were starving ... had seen the Pit a few days before and it was packed so we decided to try it for a late lunch. We were told the ribs were just off the smoker and they did not disappoint - tender and moist - did not even use sauce. Good fries and since we missed the crowd service was quick and pleasant. The tiny Key Lime tart did not impress.

If you came because you saw the "petting zoo", beware, it is $5 to pet the gator food.
They made it look like an authentic easy food place, those where the locals eat. It is all facade, the "gator" burgers are probably "previously frozen", fries are for sure pre-processed. The cassava (yuca) is probably the best thing they have.
Service is painfully slow. If you are trying to get somewhere on time, you are better off going on an empty stomach. I returned my "gator" burger, but others in my party carried it in their bellies and remembered it for the rest of the trip.
BBQ ribs are more BBQ sauce than ribs, even the "gator' ones. The hot-dog that my five year old nice had seemed OK, although she did not eat it, kids might know something that we don't.
"Draft" beer (all called "light") is served with ice.
And, if at the end of your meal your stomach refuses to hold it, DON'T try the bathroom unless you want to induce vomiting.
Still hungry, enjoy.

Okay BBQ if you are driving into or out of Everglades. The usual BBQ fare, nothing special. We ate lunch pursued and enjoyed ourselves. But service was very very slow.

Nothing extraordinary about this place. The wings were over done. The pulled pork and pulled beef sandwiches were dry and the sauces offered were not helpful to try to moisten them up either.

The pit is the only burning wood barb q in miami, they have a wide variety in their menu, gator bites gator ribs , frog legs baby back ribs , spare ribs, T bone steaks, sirloin, chicken, etc. and the flavor of their food is UNIQUE!!!!! I love this restaurant the food is awsome as well as the service and the atmosphere. I HOPE THEY DONT DELETE THIS RATING AS THEY DID ON YELP.com
I truly recommend this place to you....:)
