It's a neighborhood that has become "trendy" but be careful and know where you are going and what you are going to see.

This area is up and coming and to some, may still need to come up a bit more. It is home to many an art gallery and some cute shops. Bars and restaurants are beginning to trickle in. Be careful in the evenings and be smart--same rules in any City! Keep an eye out for Wynwood because it's going to be great.

I ventured out to the Wynwood Artwalk a few Saturdays ago, after reading and hearing about it for awhile. It was quite a nice surprise. For a first timer, I was impressed and would definitely do it again. It's a great Saturday night alternative from the movies/dinner/bar scene.

The food trucks were an added bonus. I've been to food truck events before, but I've never seen that many in one spot. There had to be at least 30 trucks parked in a field and the lines really weren't as overwhelming as their appeared. They moved pretty quickly.

A few disappointment for my art walk experience were parking and the number of people. Parking is horrible, because it's in the middle of a downtown housing neighborhood. I spent 10mins circling around trying to find a SAFE spot. Although, there were parking metered spaces available, they were all located on dark side streets. I did not feel safe parking there, especially since there was a rampant of lots of sketchy characters in the area. Another problem I found was lots of galleries had a problem with crowd control. Some would let too many people in and would end up having to shut the doors forcing lines to form outside.

Other than a few qualms, I would definitely take this out again.

Tried the 2nd saturday art walk but couldn't even make it out of the car. Truly just for those that love to hang with throngs of wannabees and food trucks. Thought this was supposed to be about art but the event became too popular for its own good. This is probably good for the galleries, but in the long run when the crowds fade, will the afficionados ever return?
