Owner description: The Miami Design District is a neighborhood dedicated to innovative fashion, design, architecture and dining experiences. The vision for a rejuvenated Design District was codified in an urban master plan developed by the award-winning master planners Duany Plater-Zyberk, with the additional participation of architects including Walter Chatham, Hariri and Hariri, Juan Lezcano, Terence Riley, and Alison Spear. The Miami Design District embodies a singular dedication to the unity of design, fashion, art and architecture, and a commitment to encourage a neighborhood comprised of creative experiences.

Great deals on fashionable clothing 1 of kind pieces. It was great to walk to individual stores unlike the mall. Some items were bulk. We were able to witness distributors & how they negotiate prices to stock their stores interesting!

Lived in MIA for 5 years now. Maybe it's because I'm originally from NYC that I don't get this place. It's nice to drive/walk through for a minute, but for being an arts/culture-hipster-zone-ish area it's a ghost town. Yawn.

It amazes me how this district has changed in the last years and not in a good way. When I first visited it five years back it was all about architectural design with smaller shops and displays and a few cute restaurants tucked in. Now the feeling is that of being in a sort of Rodeo Drive Corp. mall atmosphere. Now you can find Cartier, Prada, Armani, Fendi etc..even valet parking all over. Sad. The feeling of arts and crafts is long gone and by the massive work in progress construction development it seems it will get worse. It is merely a portal for the usual big brand names and not much more.

This is not an easy place to navigate and find what you want. Store are spread out over a few blocks and they tend to turn over quickly. I suggest driving around the streets first to see what there is before you park. It can be a bit of a walk between good stores without much interesting along the way. But having lunch at Michael's Genuine restaurant is the best part of a visit to the Design District.
