Lokal is a place in the Grove that people need to come to. Its promise to serving only the freshest ingredients and sourcing their food as locally as possible is what separates this restaurant from the rest. This idea of farm to table food without a pretentious atmosphere is something that I have been looking for in a city such as Miami, and I have finally found that combination. The decorations and atmosphere of the restaurant are very laid back and hip, while not seeming like they are trying too hard. Graffiti on the walls, toys, wooden tables, and a wonderful playlist set the mood for a great meal. The thing they are known for are their creative takes on burgers, such as one with guava paste and another made with a patty of bacon and beef. They also offer grass-fed beef that I highly recommend. There are also other menu items that should not be missed, such as the wonderful salads and even options ranging from alligator to fresh mahi.
While eating all this food, I love to come and enjoy the different beer selections that are always rotating. Lokal definitely has one of the best beer selections in the Miami area. It is very rare to find beers such as Funky Buddha away from their own breweries, so I was quite surprised to find a favorite of mine so close to home. Overall, this is a place that needs to be visited whether you are alone or with the family. The service is wonderful and the staff is there to cater to your need. I was surprised to find people working here that were genuinely willing to help me and did it with a smile. Now, that alone is reason enough to return.
