“Beautiful but expensive”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed May 3, 2013

It is really expensive I think if the price were more affordable, they would have more visitants. But It is nice, there are beautiful birds there.

“Way to expensive”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed April 30, 2013 via mobile

Average zoo which makes it way to expensive. Sure its location is marvellous, the white lion and tigers impressive, but it misses heart (literally, I mean a crokodile with his mouth taped so that people can take pictures is a bit much...)

“Animals Poorly handled and exploited..”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed April 29, 2013

The staff need to practice what they preach by treating all animal species humanely.

The rabbits were pushed on kids for a picture and the rabbit seemed barley alive. Obviously the rabbit was either sick or tired or both, but the women kept chasing people down to get pictures taken with the poor thing simply because she needs to hit her quota! It was almost comical to watch as the staff member ran from person to person as if she was competing on a game show to get as many pictures as possible before the buzzer..

The Orangatangs are kept in cages smaller than a prison cell in Alcatraz and the Elephant is so depressed and bored an has no interaction others of her kind....depressing and sad to say the least.

Paying higher prices for food, beverages or souvenirs I understand, but the whole picture thing and feeding the Kangaroo's over and over all day long is unnecessary. There are other ways to run a profitable business while providing a great life for animals in confinement.

If the executives of this circus focused less on the exploitation of the animals and the attractions in the name of maximizing profits by building a money making machine, and focused on actually practicing real education and animal care I would take my family there again.

I will go back in a few months to see if changes have been made....

Hi Jim,

Thank you for visiting Jungle Island and for taking the time to post about your experience at the park. We at Jungle Island wanted to take a moment to address some of your concerns. We’ve provided a copy of your review to our photos department and we are working to ensure that they provide the utmost in customer service to all of our guests and meet the needs of all of our animals.

Additionally, all of the enclosures on Jungle Island (including the Orangutan primadomes) not only meet but exceed the requirements set by Florida Fish and Wildlife and the USDA. The primadomes that house the Orangutans were specifically designed to provide the best environment possible for Orangutans and other primates and there are numerous facilities across the country that also use the Primadome enclosure. The primadome gives the apes the ability to climb and provides a more enriching environment than an enclosure with only a flat surface.

Jungle Island strives to provide the utmost in care for our animals that call the Jungle home. Animal care is our top priority and we receive numerous comments at how well our animals are cared for from various organizations.

Again, thank you for taking the time to share your experience. We encourage you to visit us again in the future.

“Lemur Experience a MUST DO!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 28, 2013

Jungle Island is a fairly small park. When you walk through the gates, they take you through an assembly line of animal photos. They hand you Macaws, snakes, skunks and a small gator to hold and take photos you can buy. The photos are expensive. They have the only lemur interaction in the world. For a fairly small fee you can sit in a room for 25 minutes while lemurs climb all over you and eat your camera and chew on your fingers and learn all about these wonderful, amazing creatures. I have swam with dolphins, swam with stingrays and held and interacted with a variety of different animals over the years. This was the most amazing animal interaction I have ever had! It is a once in a lifetime experience that really touched me and my 6 year old daughter. If you get the chance, don't hesitate - spend the money to do this! Other than the lemurs, once you get into the park, they have lots of Macaws sitting around the park out of cages that you can hand feed. They have a couple of animal shows. There is a typical farm animal petting zoo. There are a few primates, beautiful birds, and some reptiles to see as well.

“So Interactive!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 23, 2013

Such a cool little island!

We literally walked into the park, and we had parrots thrown into our arms by park staff for a picture opportunity! Which is classic!

Tons of exotic birds and animals to view throughout the park. It's a good family spot. We spent about 2 hours there before moving onto our next appointment, but it was a good spot.
