“Great Food, Excellent Service. Super drinks”

Sides:
>Free Valet Parking
>Excellent draft beer (Radeberger from Berlin...visit the brewery there if in Berlin)
A closed business deal meant a dinner out for Vera and I.

Ceviche and oxtail soup were both fine to start.
Then Vera had the lamb entree, I had the Chilean sea bass. Both excellent choices and cooked perfectly.
ALWAYS> order the grilled asparagus. WoW!

“Great value food and service in Coconut Grove”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 8, 2013

We ate there with a group on and it was a great meal and service. The place is romantic and the service is great. Becky our server is superb. She treats you like family and explains new dishes that the resturant has new. Our group on included 2 appr, 2 meal and 2 desserts. The menu is well priced. Our pistachio tres leche was difinety a delicious dessert. It is a shame this place is closed on Sundays.

“Great location, good food, catchy decor.”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 12, 2013

We went to Timo's for the Miami Spice month. We picked it also because we could walk to it from our hotel, the Mayfair.
Timo's is located in the heart of Coconut Grove, nice entrance surrounded by plants. Inside it is different than your typical fine dining restaurant. It has the feel of a lounge, but larger and somehow warmer.

The Miami Spice menu is limited to a few items to chose from (not just at Timo's, everywhere), so...here we go:

Appetizers
Tuna Tartare: this dish was not bad but could have the soy sauce was a tad overwhelming making it a bit too salty. The idea and execution were fine, but I would cut on the soy sauce.
Braised Beef Short Ribs: this was my pick, as my wife had the tuna and boy...one of the best short ribs ever. Even if the sauce or gravy, whatever you want to call it, was a bit more assertive than I wished, the whole dish was a success. There is no need to even touch the knife for these ribs, who were literally melting in my mouth. Nice job!

Entree
Catch Of the Day was a fish swordfish (my wife's) and it was very good, well cooked, tasty. They kept it simple, which is how it should be with fish.
I instead had the herb roasted organic chicken breast. It wasn't bad by any standard but could have used some zest. The chicken was grilled finely and had a nice charcoal taste about it, but the whole dish seemed in need of some "kick up".
Nothing to complain though, but my wife won the entree contest like I won the appetizer's.

Dessert
Chocolate cake souffle: not bad, not outstanding, but I was a little full as the short ribs that came as appetizers were a pretty big portion
Vanilla Mousse Cheesecake. Better than the chocolate cake, nice creamy creation.

Service: well, our waiter seemed new. He was struggling, and it was obvious. But I was watching the other waiters/waitresses and they seemed to be doing as fine job.
For a while our waiter disappeared, which is not something you should do when you are new to a job.
Overall it was okay, but let's not punish the restaurant because of a new waiter who wasn't bad, he just needs some time.

One thing I noticed is the dress code for the personnel is very casual, our waiter and a few others were wearing a t-shirt and jeans. Nothing against that, but it didn't seem to fit well with the rest of the ambiance and the way the patrons dressed. No need to go Armani style, but maybe a simple black pant and shirt instead of t-shirt would fit the place better.

Price: not bad at the end, just like you would spend in West Palm Beach to eat some luck luster Italian-American food, so nothing to complain. Then again, there is rarely something to complain about prices/value when eating in Miami if you come from Palm Beach County.

We will back, without waiting for the next Miami Spice. Plus, the location is great for us as we are often in the Grove-Gables area.

“Great place!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 11, 2013 via mobile

Went here with my wife on a Saturday night. Plenty of open tables inside and out, but the place wasn't empty. Service was fast and very polite. Food was great and big portions. Pricing was affordable. I would definetly return.
