“Best wines and tapas at the gas station”
Reviewed May 6, 2012

Yes, this place is a hidden gem . Located inside market of the BP gas station at SW 17 ave and off US 1, they have tapas and a great wine selection at amazing prices!

“Carajo? More like Cielo...”
Reviewed May 3, 2012

Embrace the fact that this place is tucked inside a nondescript gas station on an uninteresting corner of Miami, and you'll have uncovered a surprise dinning experience. The decor is bodega cliché, but with flamenco music at just the right volume and a cheerful staff, it seems to work. The wine selection is extensive and at least as cheap as Publix while the tapas are authentic and generous. Will definitely be visiting again soon.

“Alice Through The Looking Glass...”
Reviewed April 23, 2012

Dear foodie friends in Miami had bragged about El Carajo the last time we visited, just back from another where they asked - "what do you want to do while you're here?" - To which I answered - I want to go to Tapas and Gas! El Carajo (the crows nest) is tucked in the back space of a BP station in Miami (you know, where they usually stash the bad coffee and the hot dog roller). To my EXTREME delight - the food was tremendous, as good as food we've had in Spain, the wine selection was out of this world, and very affordable as you can buy off the rack and then pay a minor ($10) corkage fee. I really could have stayed all day. Oh, and at the front - they have a killer deli and bakery. (I do not think I saw a slim jim in sight). We had wafer thin slices of Manchego cheese that melted in our mouth to start and went from there. I cannot wait to go back!

“Like an unexpected time/travel warp to Spain.”
Reviewed April 21, 2012

Even having been tipped off that El Carajo was attached to the back of a gas station, I was utterly unprepared. The modern gas station up front leads you to expect slim jims, moon pies, and twinkies. As you enter, the world shifts as if you'd gone beyond the looking glass. You are greeted with a display of beautiful pastries and wine. Tucked behind is a totally unexpected tapas bar, with decoration inspired by Cordoba and small Spanish inns. The selection of wines is impressive, and a very good value. At the table, we shared a couple of delectable soups, tapas portions of sardines, a seafood soup, filet mignon and a few other things. Each item was delicious. Between the great food, and the sense of a serendipitous discovery, we were delighted and amused. Great food, great value, and a really great surprise.

“Tapas in a Gas Station with nice wine selection”
Reviewed March 14, 2012

Well let me just say you can not judge a place by the sign outside. This is a gas station in front with a wine & food small restaurant in back part. The food we had was Bacalo Croquettes with a sauce was nice & consistency was done well (3 come per order), Ensalada Rusa which is potato salad mixed with egg & chicken which could not be seen but the taste was good for potato salad, Corvina grilled with mustard sauce on top of two shrimp that were sitting a top the fish. The wine can be ordered by glass or you can purchase a bottle and they charge $10.00 corkage fee. The atmosphere is more of bar scene. The waitress (Two different) people were not attentive to us. We would have ordered additional wine but they never came back to table to ask us just gave us the bill after waiting a while. So if you are interested in hanging out hopefully the service could be improved overall.
