“Great hotel for sightseeing in Miami!”
Reviewed October 18, 2007

My boyfriend and I spent 3 days in Miami prior to going on a cruise. We wanted a hotel that was reasonably priced, clean and close to the Miami tourist attractions. This hotet met all of those criteria and more. I did hours and hours of research trying to find a hotel in Miami. Finally I ran across this hotel and decided it looked like it would work for us. I was 100% right.

Our stay was outstanding right from the beginning. We had stayed up late the night before and when our plane landed at 9:30am I called the hotel to see if we could get in our room early. They said our room was already ready. It was so great to check into our room early and take a nap before starting our sightseeing. The room was impeccably clean. Hampton Inn has very comfortable beds with really nice white comforters. We also had a big flat screen TV.

The hotel has just about every extra you could want. It has a pool, hot tub and computers with internet access. Parking is free and we always got a close space. The neighboorhood seemed safe. There is a stop on the Miami's metro system a block away. The breakfast is free and has a different hot choice every day in addition to all the usual continental breakfast items like cereal, muffins, bagels, fruit, juices and coffee. The front desk personnel were very friendly and helpful.

Another thing I really liked was how easy it was to get where we wanted to go. It took about 15 minutes to get there from the airport. It's right off of US 1 which got us to downtown very quickly. The coconut grove and Miracle Mile shopping areas are each about 5 minutes away. It took us about 20 minutes to get to South Beach. Plenty of restaurants in the near vicinity. The hotel provided a very nice map with a list of all the places you might need in the area.

I don't know why you would want to deal with the hassle of staying in any of the beach areas when you could stay here in a nice, clean hotel with great service and amenities. I would definitely stay here again if I went to Miami.

We were impressed with the level of service at this hotel, particularly on week days when there were continous food offerings at the happy hour and at breakfast we were brought tiny boxes of mints and water bottles for our day. These were not offered on week-ends, though service was still good on those days and breakfast items were continuously replenished.
We had wanted a hotel in South Beach, but ended up here because we didn't want to pay SB prices. We were very happy with the location as it is very near Coral Gables and Coconut Grove both with good restaurants. It was about twenty mintues from South Beach. Even though it is right off the highway, it is on a quiet street. Room was fairly large and clean. Hotel doesn't have great curb appeal, but inside is very nice.

We stayed here for 2 nights partly for work but also for a decent Miami location for my wife and son.

The hotel is clean and well run. The rooms aren't massive but the beds are and highly comfortable at that! The breakfast was fine and the manager layed on some free drink and nibbles one evening.

The pool was out of order but we wouldn't have used it anyway. Free internet (2 computors) downstairs and free parking. There are good restaurants and supermarkets close by. In particular the Cuban restaurant just past the very nice Italian is a must. We're only sorry our 18-month old son decided to perform "tantrum in B minor" to the customers and staff.

Coconut Grove was OK but nothing special but the leafy lanes of Coral Gables are a must for a relaxing drive through on the way from the Tamiami trail (route 41).

We paid $185 per night so it wasn't cheap but the location was good, and close to downtown Miami and Key Biscayne were I was working.

I stayed one week over Easter with my family in a nice and clean room for four adults.

We enjoyed our stay, in particular because of the nice and friendly staff.

The complementary breakfast and a welcome reception was nice. The location was an excellent base for our sightseeing trips to the Everglades, the Keys, Key Biscaine and Miami South.

One of the reasons why I chose this hotel was also the fact that car parking was free of charge. Last year I stayed in another hotel in the same street and payed 25 bucks per night only for parking.

My husband & I stayed here for the night of 14th March. We chose this hotel for its proximity to the airport having flown in from the UK & for its nearness to US1 to travel onto the Keys.
The hotel still has free parking & plenty of it.
We checked in without any problems & took the lift to our 6th floor (top floor) room. I had requested a larger room on a higher floor away from any possible noise & this we were given & it was appreciated. Our room was very clean & of a good size with flat TV screen ,table & chairs & a floor to ceiling window with distant views over to Miami which was great. The bed was huge & very comfortable. The shower had good power & the bathroom was also very clean.
The breakfast the following morning had an outstanding choice for a help yourself style & it was excellently presented. There was a large tv to watch the news if you wished & although the sound was turned up it was not too loud. A very smiley young lady came around to see if she could assist in any way & gave out bottles of water. She was a real credit to the hotel.
We used the hotels business facilities & they were very good, 2 computers, printer & fax machine.
We had booked in for 2 nights but decided to go down to The Keys a day earlier as storms were forcast for the Miami area. We spoke to the helpful young lady at reception & she offered to try to make a booking for us at Hampton Inn Islamorada. She was successful & we thanked her.
I would happily return to this hotel. We did not go out looking for nearby restaurants/nightlife/shops so I can't personally comment but others have. The rate was very good & I get double-dipping.

The Hampton Inn Coconut Grove was exactly as what we expected from any other Hampton Inn - clean room with breakfast and parking included. There is a small pool looking out to the parking lot and a tiny jacuzzi. Overall our stay was pleasant and uneventful.

The proximity to the Coconut Grove shops was a plus - just a short drive away - to a good selection of restaurants and stores. The hotel is about a 15-20 minute drive to Miami Beach without traffic and about a 20 minute drive to the airport.

We stayed during the Christmas holidays so this hotel cost a lot more than what it would normally be - but this is a fair choice for a family visiting the area with a rental car. Not much nightlife around other than the Coconut Grove restaurants so if that's what you're looking for, this is not the place for you.

  • Liked — Cleanliness and general upkeep of hotel - looks pretty new
  • Disliked — Expensive for the standard because we visited during the Christmas season

This hotel is older than most Hamptons which we stay at every week all around Florida on business. We usually get a refrigerator if they don't supply them and we were shocked that they wanted $15 per day at this location. The usual price always had been $5 per day so they are ripping off their guests. And then some of the ice machines were out of order.

One of the nicest things was that we could communicate in English with all of the staff we spoke with! They were very friendly and helpful. This is unusual for the Miami area. Coconut Grove is a very nice area with lots of things to do and great resturants in the vicinity.

  • Liked — Friendly staff that all spoke English
  • Disliked — The cost of the refrigerators was $15/day
  • Tips/Secrets — Take your tray from your room for breakfast convenience
