“Great Rooms, Great Property, Great Stay Overall!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 9, 2013

My wife and I are New England innkeepers and were really looking forward to our Florida get away. We had a whole week to sit back and relax and chose the Villas at Doral for just that purpose.

Besides being perfectly located just a 20-30 minute drive outside of Miami and the Everglades and a quick 5 minute walk to the nearest public transport, the Villas themselves have a plethora of activities, all for no extra charge. Gas grills dot the property, the pool was large and the grounds were well stocked with activities like a large chess set, mini golf, shuffleboard, horseshoe, and cornhole. They also have a well stocked game room, board games and gym. The gym has all the equipment that you'd need and it's all up-to-date.

Though the local market and restaurants were just a short drive away, they have a well stocked "grocery store" on site as well as a lunch/early dinner restaurant. We could have just stayed there the whole time, and almost did! They also have a lot of activities available throughout the week, some for an extra (and reasonable) charge, most for free. We did the everglades tour and highly recommend it. Be sure to ask the front desk if you have any questions about what to do or where to go, they are knowledgeable and happy to help.

As for the rooms. They were very clean and very well stocked with everything you would need. From dishes to pots and pans to cleaning supplies. The wifi is free and fast enough to stream movies. They have all the cable channels you'd need, including multiple HBO channels. Finally, the beds were comfortable and the showers and soaking tub were perfect.

Yes, the resort is in the flight path of the airport and yes you can hear the planes. Mostly they're in the middle of the day anyway and seem to quite down at night. Plus, when you're in your room it's really not bad at all. The only time I found it to be annoying was when my wife and I were reading to each other on our outdoor porch. But, I can hardly fault Marriott for the airport's flight path. If you're a light sleeper or just easily bothered by something like that, keep it in mind.

So, you may ask, did we get the relaxing getaway that we were hoping for? Yes! A large part due to the Villas at Doral.

What a great property. We stayed here as we were a group of 10-12 people, so we had two rooms. We all were picking up a ship for a cruise out of Port Miami the next morning. It is only about 5 + minutes to the airport and about 15 minutes to the port. The rooms are lovely, great water and golf views, large and all in all, a very comfortable stay, it was like staying in a luxury condo!! I would highly recommend this property...and will definately stay there again!

The room is perfect for families and very close to Miami Airport. Easy access to major freeways and other sites in Miami. The room is very spacious and comfortable, but my son was bitten by some unknown bug and had marks for almost a week. We don't know what happened and he didn't get ill but we were worried.

Outside there is a big lake with some really big fishes there. I saw some really big ones swimming by where I was fishing and with the right equipment there could be some really good memories. I got 5 of the little ones, but still fun. There's also a golf course, a mini golf course and a swimming pool.

Even with the bug, we would come back.

Room Tip: I wouldn't go for the ground floor units.

Doral was really expensive-$16 for a BLT sandwich? 4:50 for a coke and no refills??
Marriot villas were nice as long as you did not mind a plane flying over every 3-5 minutes as the landing pattern for Miami International went over the Doral golf courses and the Marriott Villas.

This property is amazing for a lengthy stay. The rooms are 2-bedroom/2-bath villas and very large, both bedrooms had 2 queens and there was a total of 2 sofabeds so you could sleep 8 if needed. The room is basically an apartment, with a full kitchen and large living area. We had a balcony that overlooked the lake and it was nothing short of amazing. The hotel even had glasses, dishes and utensils fully stocked. The pool is amazing and open until 11pm. I did not want to leave this place. They have a gym and a small game area that we played some ping pong at, they had a few arcade games and I was surprised to see they actually charged you quarters to play them. Doesn't really seem necessary to charge people for that who are paying $300 a night. I had read complaints about airplane noise, I only recall hearing 2 planes and that was when I was on the balcony and it wasn't bad.

Room Tip: Higher Floors will give you a balcony to relax on, the bottom floor is just a porch and its not clos...

Clean villas and common areas. Good customer service. Without the access to the Trump pools etc., the trip would not have been as enjoyable. Limited activities, I think it was because of the holidays, but we did not join any of them due to lack of interest in what was offered. Expected at least a bingo game but none here. Next time will go to a different location as we had fun but not as good a time as we had at other locations....

Room Tip: Ask for a high floor....in the newly renovated main villa...

After reading reviews we decided to spend a week at this resort. The 2 bedroom units are large, well equipped & are comfortable. Many amenities include a reciprocal agrrement to use Trump's Doral Golf Resort & Spa facilities (free mini shuttle) & it is suggested that you walk their grounds & use the upscale, relaxing pool facilities. 5 golf courses are available for play.
The Villas have many activities & included is 9 hole mini golf course, cornhole, game room, fitness center. Planes do begin the descent to Miami Airport overhead, but the path does not affect a night's sleep.

Room Tip: If traveling with children,bldgs.1-3 are good as they surround the pool. Adults might want to reque...
