“Nice tour of Miami”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 22, 2013 via mobile

We did the city tour of Miami and thought it was fun and informative. Loved the option to hop on and off and rejoin the tour every 30 mins. We got off in Little Havana and walked, shopped and had lunch. The guide suggested an authentic Cuban restaurant, El Christo. They may have been off kilter but it took a while to get our order placed and the food was lackluster. Didn't get to take advantage of the beach tour as we left for our cruise the next morning. Really had fun!

“Recorded audio w few and low-interest facts, lots of terrible muzak.”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 20, 2013

Staff disinterested, drivers mixed - some good, some totally without regard for comfort. Some buses w live commentary, or so we were told, we didn't get one all day. That doesn't have to be a problem, but with the totally uninteresting recorded audio, the tours (beach and city) sucked! Very few things commented, almost exclusively architecture info. Horrible muzak to fill the silence so you know your headphones are working.

“Alex rocks!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 18, 2013

My husband and I took a Big Bus Tour this past week. The Beach Loop and City Loop give a good overview of a large area. Being able to disembark and jump back on at various points makes this a good way to spend a day sightseeing. We were not overly impressed with the recorded headset tour...not a great deal of information for the length of time they have a captive audience, and it seems a very passive and isolated way to tour in a fun double decker bus. However, after transferring for the return to the beach, we had an enthusiastic attendant by the name of Alex. He chose to give us a guided tour without the headset. It was much better, more personable and lively. We ended up redoing most of the Beach Loop just to hear his tour! Well done, Alex!

“Great Way to See The City”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 16, 2013

Big Bus Tours is an easy and inexpensive way to see Miami and learn some of the history. The tour guide was excellent and very knowledgeable. The beauty of this tour is you can get off and back on another bus at selected stops. I highly recommend this tour, as it gives you an overview of the city and surrounding areas.

“Opt for the 2 day pass as too much for 1 day”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 16, 2013

The Big Bus Tour of Miami was one of the normal “hop on, hop off” variety. We found it better than usual as the commentary was live rather than recorded and listened to via earphones. Although it was entirely in English there were earphones and a recorded commentary for those for whom English was not their standard language – though a certain amount of Spanish was spoken by some of the guides. This made it more interesting and up-to-date and also meant we had the option of asking questions. We booked a 2-day option which gave us plenty of time for both routes and a variety of guides.

The red route went around the main town, through areas such as Little Havana and Coconut Grove, it also stopped at a shopping centre, various famous old building etc. We decided, as we had an interesting commentator, to sit on the bus and do the complete circuit, returning to the harbour front where there was a swap over to the blue route.

The blue route went to Miami Beach where we got off for lunch and a wander along the beach and to look at the Art Deco buildings. We then picked up the bus again and returned across the bridge to our start point, a short walk from our hotel. A good and interesting day out.

The next day we picked up the red route bus again, this time getting off at Vizcaya - an old house which is now a museum with lovely gardens (reviewed separately). This is opposite the science museum but we did not have time to visit both. After lunch back onto the bus and completed the red route for the second time. This was not in any way boring as the commentator was different and told us many new facts.

Definitely recommended as one of the best of this type of bus tour we have been on.
