“Great stop over”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 28, 2012

Traveling with teens made the two bedroom suite a great
bonus. Everyone can spread out, have their own bed and
their own tv, if they must!

Very near the airport and great for a pre/post cruise stop over.

Pool area is always important to me! and this hotel has a nice pool
area for a short stay. Not exactly resort quality but better than
most budget hotels.

Rooms were a worn but clean. No bugs.

Tip: Publix Grocery Store was right across the bridge and
was so handy ( 4 minute walk) for picking up anything
that was forgotten or that we wanted to have on the boat but couldn't pack!
(also Walgreens and CVS right there as well)

Tip 2: Try Grill It restaurant for take out dinner. It's in the same
mall as the Publix and has amazing build your own dinner bowls.
Everyone loved it. and seemed a healthier choice than other fast food.
(Teenage son loved it and could hardly finish it, so really good sized servings! :-)

We stayed with another couple for 3 nights mid March. I had spent a tremendous amount of hours researching hotels in the Miami area since we were wanting a home base as we explored Miami and the everglades. We had settled on this Hyatt for it's central location and amenities, and were swayed by the good reviews. We didn't require staying near the airport although it was a great location if required. (And I can't recall any jet noise.)

The two bedroom suite was great value especially considering the average price of a hotel room in Miami in March! We would have loved to be along the beach but the cost of rooms was astronomical. I also noticed that most hotels had resort fees, mandatory valet parking and internet fees charged per day - The Hyatt House had free parking and wi-fi along with a complimentary breakfast. The hot/cold buffet breakfast was a convenient feature to have but it was average at best. (The hot items left a lot to be desired, like the inedible waffles and processed cheese filled omelete triangles.)

I rated sleep quality as average as the fitted sheet didn't stay on the bed and ended up rolled up underneath us in the morning. (p.s. What is the deal with hotel bedding these days? It's so bizzarre to me to have one loose sheet and a comforter!)

I was expecting a little more considering the reviews - which I find can be tricky as each person has different expectations/standards etc - and was slightly disappointed. BUT overall, I would recommend this hotel if you're looking for a central location, close to the airport, and for great value considering the amenities.

We stayed at this hotel for 3 days in March before and after a cruise this was our second stay. The rooms are big and very clean. The staff is friendly, helpful and very accommodating. The manager is always visible and talking with the guests. There is a nice breakfast with two or three hot items, fruit, cereal, breads, oatmeal, juice and milk. Mon-Thur there is an evening reception with free food, beer and wine. We will be back next year before our next cruise.

this hotel gives great value for money. The condition of the hotel and rooms are of a high standard although the quality of the bathroom did not match the rest of the suite (it was clean though). The buffet breakfast has plenty of choice and the week day evening happy hour is a nice touch. The pool was very well heated too which is always a bonus. We used this hotel as a base for day trips to the everglades and south beach and it is well located for this if you have a car. Also well located for the Dolphin and International malls

4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 20, 2012

I had two requirements for booking a hotel in Miami: it had to be reasonably convenient to both the airport and the port of Miami, and it had to be able to accomodate separate sleeping areas for my parents and for my husband and I.

The Hyatt House was a good option, and I wish I had booked it for our pre-cruise as well.

We checked in around 11:30 am, once we finally were able to get a taxi from the Port of Miami after our cruise (what an exercise in patience!). The hotel was able to store our luggage (our room wouldn't be ready until 3:00) and called us a taxi so we could explore Miami beach (south beach). The taxi came very quickly and cost around $30 to get to Ocean Drive.

We returned to check-in to our room around 5:00 pm and the front-desk clerk offered us a complimentary cold beverage from their cooler. This small token was very much appreciated by all of us (especially for the beer).

The two-bedroom suite was perfect for us. We each had a private ensuite with bath/shower, and the beds were quite comfortable. Each room had a large flat screen tv (three in total) and a very comfortable couch in the living area. We didn't use the kitchen much beyond plates and glasses, but it looked very clean and had nice appliances.

There is a heated pool, which we quite enjoyed (although it was perhaps too warm!) and a lovely little hot tub. Pool towels were provided, but a bit difficult to find if you didn't walk past the path that had them.

We were told there are a few restaurants in the area, but we were so exhausted that we ordered in a pizza. A couple of menus were already in the room, and the NY Pizza we ordered was quite nice.

Breakfast the next morning was a bit of a disappointment. The scrambled eggs were okay and the pre-cooked bacon was alright, but the pre-made waffles were terrible - cold and hard. The hotel would benefit by investing in a couple of make-your-own waffle makers. There were also a couple of cereal options and bread to make toast. I think they had some yogurt as well. On the positive side, the eating area was fairly large and pleasant to be in (felt more like a restaurant, instead of the stuffy and plain breakfast rooms in other hotels).

The shuttle from the hotel to the airport runs every half-hour, so make sure you time it right. It was a quick (less than 10 minute) and pleasant ride to the airport.

Although I wouldn't hesitate to stay at this property again, there were a couple of things they didn't get right. For me I appreciate small details, and it irritated me that ALL the clocks in the room were wrong. The daylight savings change had happened a week prior, but the clocks were not adjusted. Plus, the alarm in our room suddenly went off at 5am loudly and with static. This quite affected the rest of my sleep and I would have appreciated the room attendant to make sure the alarm was turned off from the previous guest. (we never thought to check). I also would have appreciated a glass to already be placed in each bathroom, rather than having to get one from the kitchen.

Overall the hotel is comfortable, conveniently located, relatively quiet (I heard a few of the bigger jets taking off, but was not terribly bothered by this; was more bothered by the screaming child next door in the middle of the night), staff were professional and efficient.

We stayed here overnight in March 2012 before a flight to Belize. We weren't expecting much, it was one of the cheapest hotels we could find on a Friday night of Spring Break. We were pleasantly surprised - the room was actually a suite, complete with living room (with a flat screen TV & DVD player!!), kitchen, large bedroom and bathroom. The room was perfect...I wish we could have spent more time there! There was also a pool, fitness room and computer/business room that we did not use.

We got a great recommendation from Stanley for some restaurants in South Beach for dinner (which was only a short drive away), but ate the continental breakfast at the hotel before our flight which was your typically hotel breakfast. Plently of fresh fruit and hot coffee!

We would definitely stay here again!

We stayed here the night before our flight out. We got this this hotwire and were pleasently surprise of what we got. The suite is large with a seperate bedroom. Nice sofas, nice kitchen, huge tv in both rooms. After getting stuck in a terrible hotel the week before this was great.
There is no use of me to keep describing the hotel, the reviews talk for themselves.
Next trip to Miami, I will definatly comming back here. You will not regret it.
