Description: From its start in London, Balans Restaurants has offered comfort food from all over the world. Known for its modern menu, great cocktails and friendly atmosphere, Balans saw success during its expansion to seven locations in London. In 1997, proprietor and entrepreneur Prady Balan opened his first restaurant in the U.S. He chose Lincoln Road Mall in Miami Beach, one of America's most eclectic and international cities. Balan loved Miami so much he decided to expand further, opening restaurants in the Miami Modern District, Brickell, Downtown and Dadeland. All locations offer brunch, lunch and dinner menus featuring modern comfort food with international flair. Prady Balan, Proprietor Prady Balan (pronounced "Bay-lun"), originally from Calicut, India, moved to London at a young age for school and never left. His start in the restaurant industry had humble beginnings at McDonald's, where he first worked as a teenager. In his 10 years there, he worked his way up to senior management. Despite this success, he wanted a business of his own and started over. With a loan of £100,000, he opened a small cafe in the Soho district in 1993 and turned it into a successful diner that catered to the pre- and post-club crowd. It was also openly gay friendly, a unique distinction that set it apart in the '90s in London. After years of hard work and good food, Balan turned his first restaurant into a success and grew his empire to seven locations in London and five in Miami. The story doesn't end there... Miami now has a special place in Balan's heart and has become home base for Balans Restaurants and Prady Balan himself. In fact, Balan sold the London restaurants and now lives here full time to focus on expanding throughout South Florida and perhaps the U.S.

“Love the ambiance”

This is an awesome place to have a great meal either at lunch, dinner or even during brunch. Plus if visiting it on a saturday evening, they have the most family fun karaoke early in the evening so the whole family could enjoy it.
Their Happy Hour is really good and long-lasting.
The food is great and their appetizers are just the right size for the right price.
I love this place and I recommend it very much.

“Thank you!”
Reviewed July 30, 2013

Always have been a fan but the service there has definitely gone up a notch! Not sure if there are new managers but something has changed for the better!
Food is always pretty good and I love the happy hour!
My friend and I stopped in for a cocktail and salad. We actually just split the salad so we weren't a high spending check...
The server was happy, engaged and even made sure we had linen napkins.
Those little touches make a difference in the service and makes me want to return!
THANK YOU!

“Nice place for breakfast!”
Reviewed July 12, 2013

Fabulous place for breakfast in Mary Brickell Village. Plenty of inside and outside seating and a great view of the heart of the Village from the outside tables. Food is good, priced right and good-sized portions. The American coffee is great, the wait staff is friendly and attentive. We return again and again as it is a very comfortable place to relax and our dog, Skip, is always welcomed with a bowl of water! Try the jumbo breakfast which consists of eggs, bacon, sausage, pancakes and fruit; you won't be disappointed!

“See and be seen in Brickell”
Reviewed July 8, 2013

Not sure if the address shown here is the same place. I ate in Balans at Mary Brickell Village which is 901 S.Miami Ave. The location could not be better as it is really at the heart of the restaurant grouping in the Village. It has an extensive outdoor area which encroaches well onto the sidewalk making for a great evening venue when the air is cooler and the people-watching is at its peak. My meal was pan seared salmon over a bed of mushroom risotto served with artisan bread. Very good without being exceptional. I had the bread pudding which was very good also. Service was attentive with my water glass refilled without prompting. The seats outside are all bar-stool type. Certainly worth a visit-good food, attentive service, fair prices and great people-watching.

“A very enjoyable evening and meal at BALANS”
Reviewed July 6, 2013

My wife and I were recently in Mary Brickell Village and on June 24 we entertained two friends at BALANS at 901 South Miami Ave. We had a very comfortable outside, the weather was fine and pleasantly cool. The meal was excellent, I particularly enjoyed my main course, the Chilean Bass which was perfectly cooked. The others also enjoyed thier meals. We shared a great bottle of red wine and shared two desserts. The service was efficient and staff were helpful and cheerful. The total evening was not expensive and we all had a great time.
