“Good location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 13, 2013

We booked this hotel for our one night layover in Miami. Great room - clean, modern, spacious; surprisingly quiet for the 5 minute proximity to the airport.
A/C working very well. Had dinner in the restaurant - excellent meal and great service.
Did not eat breakfast in restaurant as flight left too early in the morning. Instead, purchased some cereal and juice from their kiosk. Utilized hotel airport van for transportation to airport.
Two computers and one printer available - great to use for check-in for the flight and print your boarding pass.

Rooms were nice, but sales staff was indifferent on check-in. Breakfast cost of $13 pp was unexpected and excessive. Fast food restaurant across the street saved the day. Close to MIA but ammenities near Hotel are limited. Restaurant was adequate for late arrival meal but selection was limited.

I stayed here while on vacation in the miami area. Was in town to see a few friends. This hotel was very modern. I liked the furniture and how spacious my room was. The staff was nice and friendly. There was on site security but limited parking. For a hotel this size they should do something about the limited parking. All in all it was a good experience staying here and I would stay here again.

This hotel is very good for travellers that want to rest between flights. You don`t have to leave the airport, and you simply walk to your hoter. Our room was modern with a very comfortable bed (we had a king size even if we had reserved for a queen...). It is surprising quiet in view of ist proximity to the airport traffic.. The room and bathroom were clean. The space for storing clothing was minimal (two large night tables, and a pole with some hangers. However, it was adequate for us since we were not there to unpack suitcases! Also, there were no rfrigerator or coffee making facilities in the room, but again, we did not plan to have a picnic in the room... Ice and soft drink dispensing machines were down the hall.
Downstairs, there is a concourse with a variety of stores and restaurants. You can also use the hotel restaurant on the 7th floor with a good view over the runways. We used it, and prices are reasonable, and the food is good.

Room Tip: Make sure that you reserve in advance. The night we were there, the hotel did not have any vacancies...

The hotel location is convenient to the airport, rooms, lobby etc are very nice. Very clean. We chose this hotel as it was advertised as having a restaurant as we were travelling with our adult children and young grandchildren. Advertisement on best western website needs to be changed to reflect reality. Once we found that it was only a set buffet for breakfast we were informed the complementary breakfast was going to be charged to us a we didn't pay enough for our room! That is what was said to us at check in. Breakfast is a $13.00 charge and not worth it.

We booked the room on the Best Western website with a triple AAA rate, so beware. Service here is not consistent with a premier hotel.

The rooms (furniture and decorations) were new and solid. I was disappointed to learn upon our first morning there that the breakfast buffet you normally find at BWs was not included. They were charging $13 a head! We are loyal to BW because we rely on the early morning breakfast buffet. Best to read the fine print and ask before booking! Service was poor. I was asked to come down to the desk two times in order for the clerks to check on something to do with my reservation. We had a toilet issue and it took 2 phone calls and a 30 minute wait for service. This was right before we wanted to get to sleep. The room lacked shampoo, a telephone directory, paper, pen, or Do Not Disturb sign. I had to go down to the desk to ask for these items. One day the maid cleaned our room but forgot to put in clean towels. I caught up with her in the hall. She barely understood English, but did indicate she would get back to me in 10 minutes. It was 4 hours later before the towels arrived. The music piped outside in the pool area was annoyingly loud. The pool was not heated and was in the shadow of the building, adjacent to a main drag. A fire alarm went off at 10:00 am. When I checked out at 11:45 the elevators still were not working. I had to haul my suitcases down the stairs and make several trips in order to accomplish the task. The front desk people had no idea when the elevators would be up and running again. The area around the hotel was somewhat depressing. This is strictly a one night stay hotel for those looking for basic lodging. I paid more for "premier" but got less in return.

No complaints about the aesthetics or cleanliness of the hotel -- the rooms are lovely, the lobby is nice, and there is a little (albeit pricey) restaurant downstairs that is open until 11 PM.

That being said, my complaints are not about the quality of the hotel rooms. My husband and I were forced to stay here recently because the airlines had overbooked our flight so they put us up in the Best Western Premier for an evening.

When we arrived, we gave our credit card for the mandatory $40 deposit, and all three credit cards we tried subsequently were rejected. The girl up front initially said it was probably "our bank" that was the problem when we used the first card, then by the third card she changed her story and called management and said that she had been having this problem all day with other customers. Hmm... that's interesting.

Since we only had $20 cash on us, she said she would take that and give us our money back in the morning, so long as we didn't charge anything to the room. Well, we did have a little dinner and charged a total of $11 (including gratuity) to our room.

The next morning, upon checkout, we reminded the girl (it was a different one) that they owed us a balance of $9. She said the system was not reflecting this. Upon further arguing, we realized that the restaurant had taken it upon themselves to add on an EXTRA $7.50 gratuity on top of what we already paid. Once this was discovered, a manager came and said he would refund us the money on the spot.

Well, it took them so long that the hotel shuttle said they were going to leave without us so we hopped on the shuttle and left without any refund.

It's not about the 9 bucks -- it's the principle. What kind of hotel takes money from customers and doesn't offer to refund it in another way... a check, hotel credit, etc?? Ridiculous. Best Western needs to rethink their management practices.
