The Worst Marriott I stayed at!

1.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed Apr 26, 2019via mobile
Terrible experience. The sheets were stained. At this caliber of a hotel if washing can’t get the stains off, throw out the sheets! There was a dirty pair of socks, an open Doritos pack and trash in the drawer between the two beds. Disgusting. When I reported this there was no surprise or apology. Dishes at the restaurant were dirty. A colleague saw an employee scratch the dirt from the bottom of a coffee cup with a spoon and put the spoon back in the pile to use. I got woken up at 3am by loud music coming from outside. The lights from the other buildings (that are too close) seep into the room. The faucet wouldn’t drain. There’s no cell phone reception in the room and the internet connection keeps dropping. Don’t bother to stay here find a different hotel.

My best friend and I stayed at this hotel for one night (Saturday, April 13, 2019). We were assigned room 3306. We had an excellent stay!

First, this hotel is located in the heart of downtown Miami, within walking distance to Brickell. As with any large hotel in an urban setting, parking will be scarce and costs to valet at the hotel will be high. This is pretty standard at any hotel in any urban setting in any city throughout the world. Traffic around the hotel is a nightmare (typical Miami nonsense).

Check-in was quick and efficient. Our room was not ready upon arrival, but we stored our luggage and went to grab lunch in Little Havana. As we were eating lunch, the front desk agent contacted my friend to let him know our room was ready.

We had an entire day planned, but when we checked into the room, we did not want to leave. Seriously! We crashed on the bed and did not awake until dinner time! The room was beautifully appointed, large, and spotless with incredible views of skyscrapers and the Miami River. The bed was the most comfortable I have ever slept in. The AC made the room incredibly cold (which I love). The bathroom was large and had the perfect shower and set-up. I absolutely loved everything about the room and bathroom!

The hotel is busy. Lobby is nice, but rather stark (not much too it). The lobby is connected to the Wells Fargo Center.

The only staff we really interacted with were the valet / bellman staff. All of these guys were working hard and very friendly and personable.

I HIGHLY recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Miami! It is a great property!

Let me start from the beginning. everything was downright horrible. We came on Saturday for one day stay and was told that pool was closed because there was an event! My kids LOVE pools and it was SUCH a major disappointment. No one had the courtesy to inform us when we were booking the room.. Then came the actual room which was fine but the service...our coffee maker wasnt working so we called for someone to come and take a look.. it took four hours and five phones calls for someone to show up!! I kid you not! everything is in their records.. We came on Apr 6 and left on Apr 7 2019. The room was okay but was told it will have ocean view.. it had partial bay view with huge building blocking most of it! Terrible experience.. never going back!

I am a big Marriott fan but, unfortunately, this particular property falls short. It might be okay for a business traveller or a one night stay before a cruise but it is definitely not a good option for a multi-night pleasure visit for a couple of reasons: 1) The pool. The pool is located on the 16th floor surrounded by the building itself and adjacent buildings. Consequently, it gets nearly zero sun. Also, there is no pool service at all. You can't get a drink or food. 2) They make a big deal on the website hyping the virtual bowling, indoor basketball facility, etc. The photos make it look great. But lo and behold you only get 30 minutes free as part of the "resort fee" and when you arrive at the location of these amenities (same floor as the pool) it is the most inhospitable experience you can imagine. The facilities are locked behind nondescript doors guarded by an unfriendly person sitting at a desk who doesn't even acknowledge your presence. We didn't even bother. 3) On the weekends the only bar that is open before 6 pm is upstairs on the second floor in a tiny cafe. We took our guests across the street to the Kimpton! You really shouldn't have to leave a JW Marriott to get a drink! The attached high-end restaurant is nice and has a great lounge but it is not open during the days on the weekend and is closed all day on Monday. 4) The coffee bar wasn't open when we went down at 10:10 am on a Saturday. Had to hike it to the Starbucks. I could go on and on. Bottom-line: if you are looking for a hotel for more than 1 night of a leisure stay, look elsewhere.

A wonderful and beautiful hotel. We enjoyed our pre-cruise stay, and the location was convenient to some of the local restaurants and area bars. Breakfast was a bit pricey, as were the bar drinks. It is just a short ride to the Port of Miami.
