Three of us had lunch at Mandolin after it was strongly recommended to us by a local friend. We were in town for Art Basel, so we were shocked that there wasn't a wait. Turns out we just barely beat the rush as there were folks lined up down the street when we left.
& for good reason, the food is fabulous, the park-like outdoor dining area is wonderful, and the staff is friendly & attentive.
We definitely over ordered by a couple of orders of magnitude. We could have taken our leftovers home for dinner & had leftovers for lunch the next day. Not that the portions were huge, but we just saw so much that we wanted to try. Since one of our party had never eaten Turkish food, we used that as an excuse to just keep adding to our order. Everything we ordered was very well prepared, and the white wine by the glass was a perfect crisp pairing with our meal. This is definitely not what I pictured when thinking about dining in Miami Beach, but it was a very pleasant surprise.

In calling for a table for two at 7:30, I was told that the restaurant didn't take reservations but we would have no problem being seated. When we arrived at the restaurant, the hostess asked if we had reservations. I told her that I was informed that reservations were not taken and also, not necessary. She said that because it had rained and much of their seating is outdoors, they could only accommodate those with reservations. That was spoken in not the friendliest of terms.

Had a great meal on a Saturday night. Comfortable setting outdoors. Grilled octopus was fantastic, tender with good flavor. Turkish sampler also very good with 3 tasty dips, hummus was very think and rich. Shared entrees with a friend, turbot special was exceptional. Lamb chops were very good, and I substituted the lemony spinach for the orzo pilaf which was a good pairing. Service was attentive but not intrusive, steered us right with recommendations. Highly recommend this restaurant for a night out with friends or a date night.

The General Manager at the door had a VERY bad attitude, we arrived 40min early and she forced us to wait on the side while half of the restaurant was empty
Once seated the service was very good
The appetizers are the main attraction, most of them are great
The main course was not so good, the fish was OK and the Moussaka was very heavy on bechamel and the ground beef was not that good
Overall - OK (get rid of that pesky General Manager)
