“The little boutique hotel”
Reviewed April 15, 2012

The Newyorker is a great little boutique hotel, the neighborhood not so much! The hotel is neat clean with art deco charm. The rooms modern but lacking a couple of things, 1) there are no exaust fans in the bathroom which makes for a sauna instead of a shower 2) no AC however there was a ceiling fan in our room which was quite pleasant, however it was March, could have been very uncomfortable in summer. On the upswing , great little breakfast courtyard with Charles as the breakfast attendant, he is great very pleasant with lots of personality! The AM&PM Mimi's at the front desk are wonderful helpful accomodating and a lot of fun. The pool area is very clean with great chairs and loungers. Think Miami is trying to improve the area but for now I was a tad nervous going out at night and had a very hard time sleeping with all the sirens.

Very good service, excellent value, the room was always clean, the location and the public transportation were at it's BEST and the breakfast was good.

Most important was the staff, specially "Geri" and "Charles". All were very friendly and helpful.

If I go to Miami again, I'll stay in the New Yorker Boutique Hotel. :-)

We booked this hotel in Miami whilst we were in transit to South America following some of the reviews on here. It's really a motel in the more traditional sense but it's well decorated, pretty funky and the rooms are very comfortable except for the noise! We were next to the road so the traffic noise was pretty loud - the hotel had supplied ear-plugs on our pillows which indicates that it is a problem but in addition to that the walls are paper thin and we were kept awake for hours by a card game in another room - they weren't particularly loud or anti-social but the noise travelled so easily they might as well have been in our room. The hotel was very helpful generally and the bus to south beach/bayside was really easy and cheap.

Room Tip: Make sure you get a room away from the road

Before our cruise we stayed here a few days, we already visited a few hotels this journey before we arrived the New Yorker and were content! Nice place, clean and friendly, free parking, free laundry,... Had some laundry to do and the lady off the house was so friendly to let me do before her own! Breakfast was ok, but what when it rains? And the guy was very nice, but maybe he can do his job? Yes you do need a car! Noisy road, but no trouble sleeping. We loved the room. They were cleaning and renovating constantly! A lot off leaves and branches in a beautiful pool with very cold water! Maybe you can take advantage off the beautiful pool and heat it and keep it clean! Good value for our money! We payed more in Miami to receive less!

Its a small and confy hotel! All staff are very kind, specially the guy from breakfast! Its very clean, and besides the location, a little bit strange, its safe. I have to admit that at first time I didnt like the location, the region does not seem safe, but everything was fine. The front desk is always please to help you, and the room is very confortable. I really recomend it!

This place is COOL! Such a great vibe! Rooms were super spacious, comfortable and mega-clean. The aesthetic of the rooms is really thoughtful and again, "cool." Staff was so sweet and helpful.

I can understand some folks not being into the area because they're not right on South Beach and it's not located in a quiet, gorgeous neighborhood. It's on a pretty busy street. It's not a cozy, hangin' out, full-of-quaint-shops, casually-stroll-around-after-dinner area so just be sure to check out where the New Yorker is on the map from where you think you'll be spending a lot of time. It was no problem at all for us to get to South Beach, Collins Ave., Coconut Grove, etc. from this location by car. And this hotel is on sort of a "hotel strip" so folks have been overnighting in this area for decades....

We walked around day and night with no problems at all and an excellent restaurant a couple of blocks away was recommended and 5% was discounted for being New Yorker Boutique guests.

Continental breakfast in the lovely courtyard was really nice as well.

This place is a class act and there's obviously a lot of love and respect for the property and the hotel's legacy in order to continue to provide a sweet stop over!

Room Tip: Definitely request a room in the back off the street if possible for a quieter night. We were in th...
